Which version?

This was taken about a month after the last Open.  They play a hole which you are not familiar with.  ON TV playing an iron off the tee made it seem one dimensional.

18 looks like one of the best ways to finish a round, that I’ve seen.

Probably 8 but I think 4 is the coolest place on the course.

Wayne I concur with #16. There is something about this short hole that I have always found intriguing...

Venturing way out on a limb, I'll say the 17th.

- A puzzling low profile with no visual prompts (made all the better because thanks for TV in your mind's eye you know exactly what awaits)
- I am sucker for playing toward the ocean.
- A green size and shape ill-suited for the distance required (as opposed to Garaminals architecture).
- Two distinct holes depending on the pin placement.
- Elasticity.
- Total exposure to the elements.
- A welcoming safe harbor option short right resulting in a simple pitch down the length of the green.
- The entire left half is a sucker play.
- You tell me what part of the game it does not test:  Iron play, short game, putting?
- Quirk.
- The fact that most people don't like it notwithstanding that it has been the venue for two of the greatest shots in modern major championship golf.
- A 3 there is a life-time memory.
- No par three in the world is a better test for the world's best players.

Second place tie:  2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18.

Who's he calling a "sot?" Though I guess I might resemble that remark, it strikes me as the kind of vituperation we're trying to avoid here  ;)

For those that have played both. How similarly do PBGL #6 and Pete Dye Golf Club #5 play? Pretty darn similar I say.

10, although extraordinarily difficult, is a fantastic golf hole. Play right, challenge the water, and have an easier shot.

Same with hitting it far enough to carry one of the multiple "runways" rather than hitting on the upslope, getting a tremendous amount more distance.

Hit it left, and not long enough, and face a long shot over a hazard that gobbles golf balls (long grass and some misc. standing water) to a small green.

Pretty great and strategic hole.

That said, I think 6 is my favorite hole there. The second shot is AWESOME, as is the drive.....

8 with 7 and 4 not far behind.  18 is the worst....means the round is over!

I am surprised to see the 6th ranked so highly among a group of truly world class holes. A beautiful hole to be sure, but I'd put it as the third best par 5 at PB. The 14th and the 18th have more interesting second shots (the treacherous 14th green makes picking where you lay back a fascinating call; also, miss the fw and you will not hold the green), third shots and greens.

As for drives, the 6th calls for some choices at the tee (particularly as set up by the USGA) if you are a big hitter, but - at the risk of sounding like a robotic TV announcer - is there a better driving hole in the world than the 18th?

And we haven't gotten started with the par 4's or 3's at PB.

Going for the 6th green from a similar position to where Tiger hit his 7 iron in 2000 (although now fairway and without the large tree) ranked pretty high on the scale of interest for me.
