I can't think of a contemporary figure that would fit his categorization.

It would seem to be a giant figure and I would have to agree with Sean as I don't feel that Pete was referencing any "Golden Age" architects.

MY guess is also Jones, Sr. He was remarkably fond of Jones when I interviewed him.

I'll go outside the box and guess Jack Nicklaus, circa when they were working together early in their architecture careers.

I had a conversation a few years ago with Mr. Dye at the Kampen course at Purdue and he mentioned Seth Raynor a number of times as a source of inspiration especially Camargo.

So, I'll say Seth Raynor.
