I played Hiddenbrooke once, 15 years ago. Thought this might be of interest:

It's very mediocre at best.  It's unwalkable and in a wind tunnel.

This statement is generally false if not misleading?  "Golf Digest applauds Hiddenbrooke as one of the top 10 public courses in the country, the only one from the Bay Area in the top 50".

"and in a wind tunnel."

Joel -

As the saying goes, "nae wind, nae golf."  ;)

The wind coming in thru the Golden Gate is usually not a problem this time of year.

David,

Thanks.  That's a good deal.

Joel,

Are there any public courses in Nocal other than Pasa and the Monterey courses that you think are any better than mediocre?

Temps in the 50's with 20 mph wind chill for the next couple of weeks in No. Cal. You can get alot of great deals if you don't mind the cold and wind. Just saw a deal at Dark Horse in Auburn, rated in the top pub's nationally, for $35 with a cart and range, drink, anytime after 11am all week + weekend.
I thought Hiddenbrooke was good, not great but good.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Lots.   I would rather play Monarch Bay, Metropolitan, Stonetree, Wente or even Harding Park to name just a few.  Metro would be my first choice.

You're saying those courses are better than mediocre, or they're just better than Hiddenbrooke?  I've only played Monarch, Metro, and Harding on that list.

I would rather play Hiddenbrooke than Stonetree, but otherwise I concur with Joel.

Wente is in amazing shape right now, by the way. The greens are as true and firm as any public course I have visited.

Thanks, I bought one. They had a similar deal last year through groupgolfer.com. It's not a great course, but it's pretty nice and certainly a great deal with all this stuff for $45.
