Hole # 17-Par 4: 357...344...322...287
17 is something of a surprise, coming as it does between a vaunted par three challenge and a penal, closing par 4. There is a nose bunker assemblage smack dab in the drive zone, forcing one to lay back to ensure an unfettered shot into the green. For a fall-line entry, one should stay left of the bunkers, while those who choose to take a run at the putting surface from the tee should cut yardage (and bring hollows and hay into play) by going up the right side of the fairway. The shot in is awkward enough, as the green never quite sets up visually for the approach (not a negative!) The putting surface is protected by sand and some minimal mounds and hollows, and the safe play as always is the geographic center. A competent player should make a run at 3 here.
Tee Shot...Bunker area sits immediately below the tallest tree.
