Pete,
I grew up next door to Manasquan River GC in Brielle, NJ. Back then I had no idea (or interest) of the architect. MRGC is a tale of two courses. The front nine sits on land that is heavily treed and rolling with some demanding uphill shots while most of the back heads to and away from the river and is rather flat.
My biggest impressions of the course were the rather bland (read: flattish) greens and the monotony of the holes by the river, i.e., straight up then straight back. The three par threes are challenging. Matt Ward, who used to post, I believe has played it more recently.
I don't know how much of the original design is intact. I don't think the routing has been changed at all though some angles have been tweaked. Some greens have been shifted slightly and changed in size. I know they have completely relocated the sixteenth green, placing it closer to the river. I have not seen it in person but am sure it's an improvement. I would be surprised if ten percent of the bunkering is original. Between Google Earth's time lapse and the photos from Historicalaerials.com, it appears that MRGC has never been shy about experimenting with bunker placement.
You can check their website. The flyover tour is spotty and the course tour sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
