Courier Confirms Carnoustie Course Clean-up Coming

First tee tidying exercise - should be good:

I often find myself in splendid isolation on the golf course...unfort :(

Boys,
if you mean the HOTEL, you should have seen what was there BEFORE...

Gentlemen,
The Dundee and Angus Council has never covered itself in glory regarding architecture post WWII as far as I can see. Just look at the horrible skyline as you cross The Tay Road Bridge from St. Andrews on your way to Carnoustie.  And today is  better than 30 years ago as many of the multi-storey monstrosities are being pulled down. It has been a shame as council graft and corruption took its toll through the sixties leaving a rotten legacy. More so when, as Brian alludes to, there is some lovely buildings and homes in the Broughty Ferry/Monifieth area and beyond.

Carnastie got the old shoe box (a larger replica, from memory, of many of the council flats built in the '60s and '70s)! Then the new monstrosity! And all that time they could have had a Lorimer look-alike!

Cheers Colin

Marty,

As you are gca's man on the ground I expect you to have a word.

Seems like an excuse to build a shop to cash in on the tourists. Nothing wrong with the starters hut but the coonsil pavement is awful.

BTW, I notice in their artists impression that they are going to remove the starters hut  but retain the ugly red brick walling surrounding the hotel, juxtaposed another stone edifice virtually on the tee, Splendid isolation indeed.

Niall

ps a coonsil employee, do you get cheap tee times ?  ;D

Falkirk Community Trust.

Hurrah and hussah!

Golf Course is at Grangemouth. Never played it, but looking forward to turning it into the Pine Valley of the North

cheers,
MB.

PS Thanks, RM, for the grammatical suggestion! ;)
