It is a great looking course. The one thing that stands out on the photos for me though is the amount of rough around the bunkers and greens. It would seem to me that the course would look and play better with those areas around the bunkers being mowed at fairway height. Not knocking the course but some many places have thick rough round the bunkers and it seems to defeat the object of having hazards there.

Dean,

Brad Klein and I made the same observations.

My guess is that the heavy rough surrounding some bunkers may have a limited shelf life.

As did I during the Sept 2010 thread on this course.  All I got from the east coast mafia headed by Mucci was nasty treatment.  Its good to see even Pat can learn a few things.

Paul

Thanks for the pix.  Other than the rough lines, the course does look excellent.

I took many pics of Mountain Ridge during the deluge of Mucci-fest 2010!  Here is the photo album formatted at 1400 pixels wide, so you'll need a big monitor.   :)

Sean, other than the bunkers short and left of # 1 green could you identify the bunkers where you would have the rough mowed to fairway height ?

Other than the bunkers left and short of # 1, could you identify where you would eliminate the rough and mow it to fairway height ?

Sean, I've had an issue with the rough on the left side bunkers short of # 1 for years, so that's nothing new to me.

But, I would like to know where else you feel that the rough around the bunkers should be mowed to fairway height.
If you would reference the photos, or quote, with your comments under the photos, that would be helpful.

Don't forget, that photos tend to flatten topography

Which rough lines ?

Paul,

You'll have to come back next Spring and take the "after" photos.

After our surprise October blizzard, you won't believe how many trees are gone.
It's truely amazing and the course looks even better.

And, the wind seems to be more of a factor with the trees gone.
