You need to wait and see how he handles RM as opposed to one of those soggy, saggy Sydney courses before proclaiming that.

Mark, i was merely entertaining myself by sseimg if the Tiger 'dislikers' wuld come out to play ;D my next comment therefore has to be about Geoff Ogilvys 'tash'!!!!! What is happening there? The course does not look that wet....or is it just not as firm as the Melbourne courses?

Which course are they playing the tournament on?  I have not had a chance to see it on TV yet, we check the Golf Channel tonight.

Well you reeled one in here then, Dean.  :)

Ogilvy resembles a 1970s pornographer from Boogie Nights. Not sure growing a mo like that in Sydney is such a good idea.  I hope he is indoors after dark.

Melbourne courses are always much firmer than Sydney courses, because we have better weather.  Sydney is just humid and horrible.

The greens appeared quite firm in round two. It's great to see so much movement after a ball comes to earth. Target golf is a very boring prospect, particularly as a television viewer. The course also features some lovely angles and naturalistic uses sand from tee to green.

Another job apparently well-done, Sir Clayton.

I was struck by how the course looked great, even with all the water.  I have a reflexive negative reaction when I see all the water- "I thought the Florida swing wasn't until Feb?"  But as I watched the telecast- it was eye opening to see a course could work with all that water when the angles are exciting and the bunkering is interesting.

It was also interesting to see two different winds.  I really like that par five with a giant green.  A unique take on an old theme.

I thought there were a lot of good hole locations in round 2 from a viewer's perspective.  Plenty of flags were tucked but they rewarded the aggressive play with much easier birdie attempts.   And I saw plenty of guys fire at those flags which made it more exciting.

George,
Hopefully Scott will be out there on Sunday screaming "You da man" and "In the hole" when he tees off on a par five to make the experience more complete, then.  :)

Robert Allenby is having a whinge about the greens after missing the cut:

Quote
"I played a lot better today, drove it better (but) putting on these greens isn't going to do you any favours.
"I'm happy to get down there (to Royal Melbourne) and putt on some real greens."
Allenby was not the only player less than thrilled with the greens at The Lakes, which are slow and a little bumpy.

Would you expect anything different after he made five at nine to miss the cut by two?
Matt Griffen in contrast make one from 55 feet at nine to make it on the mark - with chris Kane on the bag.

Very cool. Hopefully someone will prod Chris into sharing his experiences on here.

The course looks very fetching on tv but Allenby isn't the only one talking negatively about the condition/speed of the greens.

Mike,

I would expect him to tell the truth. :D

The greens are either slow and bumpy, or they aren't.  Maybe it is just conformation that the country's premier Championship has no place in Sydney as its two best courses are woefully unsuited to the task.  One can't get its  rather lacklustre greens too fast because they are too exposed, the other can't get its more interesting ones fast because it's too wet.

I just heard a telephone interview on TGC of Tim Rosaforte where the sound quality was unfathomably spectacular, given the fact that Rosaforte was on the other side of the world, 8 feet up Tiger's ass!

Sounds like another Beaconsfield mining disaster, Shivas.

Might take a couple of days to get Rosaforte out, but there is a segment on 60 minutes and a $100,000+ payment waiting when he is rescued.

Terry, "putting on velcro"? Just a wee bit dramatic.

And he's moonwalked back to as low as T4 so far today... Started bogey, bogey, bogey... Not looking all that flash.

What is it to the end of the first fairway on #17? Can't be more than 275 yards.

Weird seeing so many irons / hybrids off the tee on a par-five that short.
