#11 Holes
« on: November 11, 2011, 06:43:05 PM »
In honor of 11/11/11

What are some of your favorite #11 holes?

Merion East - pretty historic
Plainfield - short and gets your blood moving
Augusta - start of Amen Corner
Old MacDonald - Road Hole
White Manor - A good short par five with good use of a creek
Shinecock - another good short par 3

Thats what I come up with quickly off the top of my mind.
Proud member of a Doak 3.

Huntingdon Valley's is probably the iconic hole for the golf course. Oddly, it's the one with the flattest fairway too.

Never played it, but I hear Ballybunion Old is pretty good.

Royal Troon.  The Railway Hole.  We played it downwind and I hit driver SW.  My caddie said yesterday it would have taken driver 3 wood and a low pitch.  ha ha!

I'll second #11 on Oakland Hills South - my favorite hole on one of my favorite courses.

Pacific Dunes #11 is a good one as well.

And, I wouldn't complain if I found myself on #11 at Arcadia Bluffs either.

Cypress Point #11 is one of the best holes on the course.  Normally plays into the wind, fantastic cross bunker.

Seconds for the Old Course and Pasatiempo.  Also Black Mesa and Lansdowne Resort (RTJ Course), a great par-5 here in the DC suburbs.

The 11th hole at The Country Club is an all-world risk reward par-5 which the tee shot is played on or around two huge rock outcroppings, and up to a really neat green.

The 11th at Shoreacres isn't too shabby either and is one of the best short par 4's you find in Chicago. A Raynor original.

For some reason, I always forget about #11 at Oakland Hills.  I shouldn't because it's got amazing ground movement and a great green.

The Redan at Mountain Lake is #11.

It is also where my friend Mark Parash made a hole in one on 11/11/11 !!!!!!!

How cool is that?

Gotta ask him if it occurred at 11:11 am.

#11 at Camargo is a great example of Raynor's "Short" hole.  It's a wonderful par 3 of 140 yards or so that makes you pucker up a tad when taking the club back.........
