Iron covers

Mackenzie bags (I think that's what they're called)

Wire brush hanging from the side of bag

Golf shoes with tassels (bonus points if tees are stored there)

Ball retriever in bag

Excessive logoing

You recognize the 1st and 15th of the month as...

Primary:     Date when your handicap index is updated
Seondary:  Date your work paycheck is deposited

My buddy Drinkin' Joe always stuffs a towel in the back of his pants or shorts while playing. That is OTT dorky.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but why?

I dunno, just thought he was even goofier than usual.    You had lunch with him at Cherokee, his towel was removed.

In any event, JME agreed with me above!

It's just wrong on a lot of levels. You look like a garage mechanic.

You get a towel, wet it on one end, slide it between a couple of clubs in your bag,use as needed--just like on TV ;D.

I think the towel in the pocket is one of the Holy Trinity of dorkdom, along with iron covers and a ball retriever.

My buddy Mike Barton has the same affectation, I call it a Golf Thong.  Very perverse.

As for the title of said thread, which comes from the old anti-drug commercial ("A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste"), I offer the following:

"A thirst is a terrible thing to waste and a waist is a terrible thing to mind."

An “essential golf tool” for the golfdork who is unable to throw a few blades of grass into the air to test wind direction/speed….

A windsock for the golf cart.

There was a guy, very bad haircut irregular bangs, large forehead, used to arrive at county course to be about the last to be able to tee off at a late twilight time, old bagboy pull cart, with a 1950s-60s vintage dial portable radio that used about 4-6 Dcell batteries, that he'd hang on the handle, and had a portable search-spot light.  Because he came so late, he always just teed off alone and played until too dark for most folk; walking and playing and listening to his radio.

True story, Dick.  The only time I remember taking a radio on the course with me was 4/30/61.  Not sure why I did, but Willie Mays hit four HR at old County Stadium in Milwaukee that day.   And we finished in the dark!
only time i did, Kevin Butler kicked a 52 yard field goal so the Bears beat the Packers!
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!

The other night my girlfriend and I went to dinner, I was wearing an Aronimink hat and wearing Brown True Stealths with my jeans.

And.....?

That's pretty damned dorky if you ask me.

Did you keep your hat on during dinner?

Yes, we ate outside.

The dude who wore his star spangled trousers through the village of Dornoch to buy  his cigarettes and Red Bull before he could tee off. Really made me proud as he walked past my front door both ways.

That is funny on so many levels.  13 dorks with intent to gawk.  You do see the 13th dork, don't youse?  The guy has his legs spread and hiding behind dork #10.  Is that 'The Emperor' dork in the #11 dork slot?  ;D

No, The Emperor dork would be in the 12th dork slot, and was dork in chief at that dork meeting.

I don't use a divot repair tool.  I use my thumbs to push divots back into place.  Less chance of breaking the roots.

I've never understood the advice "you don't want to break or tear roots" followed by "stick you tool in the ground and pull the sides in toward the center". We have threads on this website where variants of this are given over and over. I use the heel of my putter to perform like you use your thumbs.
