Fertilizer tends to make grass green, both during grow-in and after establishment. In one of the photos, they are clearly turfing (sodding) large areas. This indicates a certain impatience on the part of the management, and a desire for quick results, or high expectations. If they are in that great a hurry that they go through the expense of turf over seeding, then it stands to reason they have fertilized the seeded and turfed areas to facilitate the establishment. It’s a common practice at high-end golf facilities.

I understand that it had to edited to be "playable" but it looks like they went a bit too far?

I am a mere golfing enthusiast, not a GCA, but I was always under the impression that the visuals softened once the shaped dirt is grassed??

I agree, particularly the before and afters of 14th that Brian took. I don't particularly have a problem with that per se but would have liked to have seen them toe in the slopes of the dunes to the fairways a bit better. The odd ridge coming down into the fairway would have added a lot of interest although it might have caused buggies a bit of a problem

I'm not a GCA either, but thats been my observation on courses that have been altered.  All the more reason that it seems one can make the initial grading a bit more severe than you intend, with the knowledge that it'll soften a bit when it settles in.

Totally agreed.  But its only pictures and hopefully its just appears more flattened out than it actually is.

In my experience I believe the opposite to be true. Certainly from a long distance vista you see a more pronounced shape to grass than you do to white sand.

I tend to agree with you. One or two of those dune noses continued as ridges in to the fairway would have been nice to see.

I don't believe there to be any long walks between greens and tees, at least not in the minds of an American tourist who is used to buggies and therefore used to the odd long walk. (e.g. more than 125 yards). That said the whole course is on such a big scale that it's definitely not a case of walking off one green straight on to the next tee like say TOC

well said.  The pictures are unreal.  As to the comment about symmetrical (?) tee boxes, I assume what was  meant was  'squared off' tees?  It's been my experience in Scotland that squared tees are quite common.  As to the distance from green to tee, these pictures provide no clue whatsoever other than the tees are clearly not connected to green.

the muted response by some might be nothing to do with 'Donald' but could be more to do with where it is located and what has been destroyed by this developement. Many scottish residents do not find this very amusing

Most of it looks like it could be good golfing ground. Two thoughts came to my mind. The first, looks much like the old first at Sutton Bay. The second thought was "What the Hell!



This appears completely out of character with the other pictures. Please tell me It's not as busy as it looks? It looks like it's some homage to Brubeck or Tillie.

I don't particularly like Trump or his tactics but I'll still give his golf course a fair shake..if I'm lucky enough to get back to Aberdeen and play it some day. He's a polarizing guy...there will be many lined up on each side of the fence.

No, I haven't 

I've been to Pelican Hill and Trump's production in L.A. I meant it only somewhat seriously. I'm just projecting my expectations in the same way that many have talked about Cabot Links because they know Keiser is the producer there. You're in the right calling me out.

Is it just me, or is that 18th tee seem like it is at least 100 feet up in the dune, just from the pictures it looks like hiking up to the top of every dune for the back tee box will be quite a workout.
