In my experience I believe the opposite to be true. Certainly from a long distance vista you see a more pronounced shape to grass than you do to white sand.

I tend to agree with you. One or two of those dune noses continued as ridges in to the fairway would have been nice to see.

I don't believe there to be any long walks between greens and tees, at least not in the minds of an American tourist who is used to buggies and therefore used to the odd long walk. (e.g. more than 125 yards). That said the whole course is on such a big scale that it's definitely not a case of walking off one green straight on to the next tee like say TOC
