I was lucky enough to tag along with JT at Pine Valley.  The man played out of his mind.  Let me describe JT's game.  He only hits it about 190-200 yards with his driver but always hits it dead straight.  The man has the short game of a 2 handicap and he putts lights out.

Birdie #1 - Hole #8 -  He hits is drive down the right side of the fairway and has approximately 115 yards to the left green.  The flag is on the right hand portion of the green.  He knocks his approach to 15 feet left but above the hole.  Barely get his ball rolling, dead center!

Birdie #2 - Hole #17 - Again, another perfect draw into the center of the fairway leaving a 135-yard uphill approach.  Hits his approach shot long onto the back collar of the green.  The hole is cut to a middle right hole location leaving him one of those putts where if the ball doesn't hit the hole, it's off the green.  JT puts a smooth stroke on it again and DRAINO!  

Pandemonium ensues!!!  Hugs & high fives all around.  What a joy to share that moment.

Taking my worst 9 holes yesterday relative to par (5 from the front nine, 4 from the back nine), I was 19 over.

I think that perfectily illustrates the the experience an 18.1 index can have at Pine Valley....while it is possible to post reasonably good scores on a number of holes, the punishment meted out by the course for missed shots is severe indeed.

I went back to the thread and counted 8 pars. Although the score reporting was not complete from the thread and recollection I come up with 8 pars, 3 bogeys, 4 doubles, and 3 triples. That makes 1 over for best 9 holes, 19 over for worst 9 holes.
