Sixty-two dollars for a filet mignon didn't help.

Bob,
Was that place inside the Pebble resort itself?

How do the owners/managers of these places NOT see the writing on the wall?

Hopefully the Tap Room is still open!   One of my favorite places for a very expensive burger and Cab.......

One of the restaurants at Crown Casino in Melbourne charges about $125 for a 200g steak...
Grossi Florentino, an icon of Melbourne dining, used to have a Steak Sandwich available on request for $90...

Mark,

The Australians I knew in Kangaroo Gulch were much thriftier.

Bob,

They must have been relatives of mine, then... :D

Mark and Bob,
As a one time experience of a $115 Minute steak at Rockpool (at Crown), almost two years later still stands as the best piece of red meat I have eaten, including the lemon wedge accompanying and the fluffiest, airyest and delicious hollandaise sauce! :)
Each to their own, but a wonderful experience!

...and they now do a Wagyu Burger in the bar for about 20 bucks, that begin this sweeping trend across Melbourne for funky or fancy burgers...

Brett,

I had a $115 meal at Crown recently.

It was a $5 cup of tea and a $110 banana...

Many years ago when people kept it busy, I had one of my favorite Daddy Daughter dinners there. We used to spend a week a year in the Bay Area/Pebble. Another little treasure from the past closes. Fandangos is a pretty good place too. I have not seen a crowd in XIX since the Palmer group took over and changed the marketing for the property. Bob would know more about when it was ans was not busy.
