Mike - I missed Jim Franklin's post and offer. BCC is the class of the area, a truly memorable course. Heading west to I81 after 3PM might be a problem but even if you're delayed in traffic you'd have a lot to talk about.

I would say that you must not be tired when you drive down 81 - we were down at Ballyhack a couple of weeks ago and the drive on 81 with the tractor trailers is really stressful.  You will not find a more friendly and hospitable staff than at Ballyhack.

Thank you one and all for your fabulous input! I think Chris and I have some great ideas for the ride down to Virginia pre-Dixie Cup and the trip back to NYC after the Cup!!!  ;D

Every course mentioned would be new to me, so I can't miss whatever we decide.

Thanks again!

Chris Shaida and I are driving down to Roanoke from NYC on Wed morning October 26 for the Dixie Cup. We want to play somewhere early Wed afternoon to break up the drive to Virginia.

Any suggestions?

We were thinking maybe one of the following:
Stonewall - 130 miles from NYC and then 360 miles to Roanoke
Hidden Creek - 130 miles from NYC and then 410 miles to Roanoke
Four Streams - 270 miles from NYC and then 240 miles to Roanoke
Atlantic City Country Club 130 miles from NYC and then 420 to Roanoke

Michael, Four Streams is on your way.  The course is in fine shape and would be happy to set something up for you if you want.  Although, if you have played BCC you might want to do that.  I think of all the options, I'd chose that one.

I think we would really like as close to a 50/50 split on the drive as possible, so Four Streams might be the leading candidate so far.

What say you?

Michael:

Best seems to be Fountain Head CC in Hagerstown.  It was designed by Donald Ross and boasts about being nearly unaltered from his original design.

In the hindsight is 20/20 department, I turned down an invitation to play in the Fountain Head member guest 20 years ago.
Today, with this thread, I learned it is a Ross. Not good.

New York to Roanoke on I-81 is 7.5 hours
New York to Bedford, PA to Roanoke is 9.0 hours

Would Bedford Springs be worth the extra 1.5 hours?
