Of course, McMansions: http://www.ryland.com/find-your-new-home/26-baltimore/4580-the-trails-at-beech-creek-2-car-garage-villas.html

Just what we need more of.  Ughh...
Can you really call it a McMansion when it is under 2000 sq ft and only selling for $275K?

$250k is a 900 square feet two room bungalow in Palo Alto.  As they say, its all relative.

Regardless, it's sad to see one of my favorite courses die in the name of more mass-produced housing.

$250K will indeed get you a McMansion in the Spokane area.

You can easily get a 5 bedroom/3 bath/2 car garage 2800 square foot home in a great neighborhood for that price...and likely with a view to boot!

I think it buys you a 1/3 of that bungalow.  A quick search suggests that the cheapest home (not condo or townhouse) in palo alto is $775k.  707 sq feet.

I never should have mentioned the home prices.

The fact is that they took a very good and very new golf course that I loved and bulldozed it for housing.  If it can happen here, it can happen to you too.

Beechtree was where I met a lot of you the first time-this would have been somewhere around mid July 2004.  We had some good fun there, with Cory, Kyle, Steve and Ruth, Mayday, and many others.

Don't want to thread jack, but, as a parallel casualty to the busting of the golf balloon/good golf courses going under, I drove through Blue Heron the other night, the East course is still in limbo as far as development.  Looks mostly all overgrown now.  It's a shame it couldn't have been operated for a few more years as a public course, but down here I think got a lot overbuilt as far as courses go.  I never got to play here-my own fault.

Joe,

It always seems less when you don't actually see it.  Those two sat pics almost made me throw up.  It is indeed a shame to see a good course like that go instead of the thousands and thousands of joe blow munis that no one will miss.

I miss Sahara (#14 if I recall correctly).

I think Beechtree had GREAT flow.  Some cool short 4's, long 3's, back to a long 4, etc...   Just a fun, fun course.

Wow ... I never envisioned that we were building those two ponds so that someday the lots would be more valuable.

I cringed for you and Bruce when I saw that latest aerial.

When the course is completely plowed under and long gone, they'll be tribute ponds to what was once there!! :)
