Cardrona redux

Recently re-visited this course in the Scottish Borders and it's growing on me more with every play - despite the template bunkers.

It was a gorgeous day, the course is attached to a really decent - and cheap! - hotel and the location is sublime. What's not to love?

Marty

Me thinks you're just trying to be provocative. Haven't played it yet but did have a bit of a look see a number of years back and can't say it totally caught the imagination. From what I've heard its a bit of a flood plain, I mean who'd havve thought it lying adjacent to a river between two hill ranges in Scotland. Somehow I've never been able to justify the journey down but just perhaps a few more photos might change my mind.

Provocative - moi?
 ;D
Nance and I had a really great week playing some wee courses around this bonnie country a couple of weeks ago ending with a couple of days at Cardrona. It all served to remind me that great PLEASURE can be derived from even the most rudimentary golf.
Fun with friends followed by a nice dinner and a couple of beers is almost as good as great architecture.
best,
F.
PS The place WAS VERY WET underfoot!!!!!

Marty,

Have never played it but have stopped by and looked at it on route to Peebles (I think, my geography of the Borders is poor, mea culpa).  I recall being very put off by the multitude of obviously artificial humps around greens.  It was also, as you and Niall appear to agree, wet.  Very wet.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Mark,
it is situated between Peebles and Bambam (sorry, Innerleithen!!)
The hotel is really nice too with great food. £95 for Dinner, B&B and two rounds of golf was pretty decent value!
cheers,
MB.

PS Hope to be down your way next month. A mate who is a member at Close House has invited us down for a game and night at the Hotel. It's good to be the FBD!! ;)

Marty,

I think you'll like Close House, I really enjoyed it when I played there a couple of weeks ago.  Give me a shout if you have any time to meet up.
