Jack and Arnie at CPC in black and white...

How about Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson vs. Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi at CPC, then we might know what really happened ...

Hey Jonathan Becker,

Quiros vs. Woodland at Swinley Forest?  Very interesting!  Too boomers playing a 6100 yard course. That would be very icool but perhaps not as interesting as having a boomer, ie. one of those two, playing that course against a short hitter, maybe a Mike Weir when he is on his game or someone like Cory Pavin. Actually, Swinley would be great for a match between any two golfers. Just ask Mayhugh who birdied the last two holes a few years ago leading up to the Buda.

Luke Donald vs Lee Westwood at Cavendish! World no 1 and 2 on the best course under 5600 yards - would love to see their short game around those tricky greens!

I am going top stick with Faldo vs Watson at B-a-l-l-y-h-a-c-k since Faldo is a member and Watson and I have discussed him playing there. Maybe they could also be a Member-Guest duo as well.

Kinloch Golf Club in VA was named and built first.  Ballyhack is a real name of a place.

Maybe another thread would be "Best Member-Guest" teams now that I think of it.

Lester:

Best Member Guest teams is an easy one - any Member of Pine Valley and me.

In all seriousness:

For real:

Member:  George Crump, Guest:  Mike Keiser at Pine Valley (for obvious reasons)
Member:  Old Tom Morris, Guest:  Robert T. Jones (I could not think of 2 design philosophies more different)
Member:  Bobby Jones, Guest:  Tiger Woods at Augusta (where Tiger can learn to be a gentleman on and off the course)

And for fun:

Member:  CB MacDonald, Guest:  Boo Weekley at NGLA (to see MacDonald's reaction to the galloping guest)
Member:  Rees Jones, Guest:  Phil Mickelson at AAC (so Rees could hit those impossible shots for an amateur)
Member:  Jack Nicklaus, Guest: Tom Doak at Dismal River (after Doak's course makes the top 100 before Jack's)

How about Luke Donald vs. Tiger Woods at either Shoreacres or Chicago Golf. Both are great in match play, have two very different games which would highlight the course's inherent strategy.

I was thinking of offering Bubba Watson, and Colin Montgomerie at a short course like this. These guys play so fast, if the cameras aren't rolling all the time they are going to miss the match altogether. I believe DJ is a fast player too. So BW and DJ fast playing bombers at Swinley Forest would be a good alternative.

Conversely,

I'd love to see a couple of short knockers like Corey Pavin and Fred Funk go at it on a really really long venue.  Something in the range of Torrey Pines from the tips long....

Its always interesting to see how good these guys are with 220 yard approach shots into par 4s....something that happens to me on occasion when my swing is off or I play from the wrong set of tees.

The fastest player on Tour is Chris Riley.  He often does not even take a practice swing.  He played by himself on a Sat. morning at a Tour event and played in less then 2 hours, walking.
