Jud:

What would make Lake Shore notable?

Well, it was one of the more prestigious clubs of it's day.  GCA wise, not much...

The list in the first post has been updated.

This group of courses has some obvious standouts from a historical perspective, including Oakmont, Pinehurst and Inverness.

Interested in hearing others thoughts on the remaining courses on the list and their place in GCA history.

Minkahda Club (1907) – Donald Ross, Willie Watson (1917)

I believe the correct date for Minikahda (note spelling) is 1899 -- and should be attributed to Robert Foulis, Willie Watson and Donald Ross (1916), with restoration/renovation (?) work by Ron Prichard about 10 years ago, maybe.

Interlachen (Willie Watson, 1909; Donald Ross, 1920) belongs in this decade's list.

Again, you can read all about it in Rick Shefchik's forthcoming book, "From Fields to Fairways." (U of Minnesota Press)
