26 miles, 385 yards ...
There is no ice in Rio, even in August which is the dead of winter to get that much roll, are they coming out with a new ball again?

wouldn't the mix of hole lengths & variabilty of set up be more important ..... 7000? to 7800?

some holes being long par 3's one day and the short par 4 the next ... shortist par 5 then the next day a real 3 shot hole??

I personally do not think distance is but one variable. Obviously for the Olympics having Championship or Olympic tees are critical here. I am thinking 7000 to 7500 yards with the wind and humidity by the ocean should do.

Gents-the Iranians are sending a team, as will Zaire.  The powers that be will want them to break 90.  not gonna be a challenge.  at least not the first two days.

world amateur is a better model than the US Open for this.

Card might say 8,000,, but course maxes out in low to mid 7s  with easy hole locations.

how bout Faldo?  he's out of the running for the job, so he wheels in a suggestion for a "Major 18"...genius.
