Annual GCA Seattle Dinner
« on: August 15, 2011, 05:59:14 PM »
Yet again I return to dorm life at UDUB to spread the commercial real estate lending gospel to the battered and weary.  As is our custom, we will gather one evening the week of August 28th at The Ram in University Village to swap lies about our games and opinions about golf course architecture.  All are welcome.  Likely Tues. or Wed. of that week.

Hey Bogey, see if you can coerce Rich Choi into posting his photo thread on Dismal River.  He made a promise and then never followed through (typical wolverine).
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Just visited Seattle for the first time, 10 days ago.

Loved it.

How good is the public golf there?

Its gotten better with the addition of Chambers Bay, but there is a steep drop off after that.  You gotta drive to get to Gold Mountain etc.

Seattle has 3 muni courses that get way too much play and 6 hour rounds on the weekend are not uncommon.

Its not a place you move to because of the golf.

What kind of shape are Jefferson and Jackson in?   I lived in Seattle for most of 1968 and played those two a few times when it wasn't raining (not often that year, summer was one weekend in August, we moved home to SF in September  ;D ).   Liked the courses.  One par 4 parallel to I-5 cured my pull hook forever, started playing the hang on power fade.

We will convene at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, August 31st at The Ram in University Village.   For your preparation be prepared to discuss the following:

- Is there any truth to the rumor that John Kavanaugh is a Golfweek Rater?
- Tom Paul:  Miss him or diss him?
- Access tips for B-Listers:  Whose hiney's worth kissing?
- Max's Lounge - You didn't get in either?
- Butt Boys - Really?

Where the heck is Choi?

I may join you guys, if that's allowed, and introducing myself:

GCA Experience: long-time lurker; long-ago poster
Home Town: Redmond, WA
Home Course: None (consummate public golfer), unless you count Brae Burn (a neighborhood executive course)
Last Five Rounds: Chambers Bay, CDA Resort, Circling Raven, Wine Valley, Chambers Bay
I enjoy those courses and I also enjoy (in Washington): Aldarra, Gold Mountain (Olympic), Indian Canyon
Favorite: Chambers Bay or Wine Valley, whichever I played last
Not convinced: Palouse Ridge (bad day?)
Need to play: Tumble Creek
Next Up: Bayside (NE), Wild Horse (NE)

Bill,  I haven't played any of the muni courses for a very long time. They were pretty run down in the 90's and went throught some mgmt changes.

Of the 3 I always preferred West Seattle.

If I may, it'd be great to join you guys.  I live in Jacksonville, FL but am from Seattle and travel/spend a fair amount of time there for work.  I'll be in town all week next week.
