Paul,

Are we supposed to feel sorry for this guy?  I don't think that is the point.

Paul,
I had seen this earlier in the summer; remarkable and inspiring.  It puts whatever you think your problems are in perspective.

On a personal note, my daughter (age 23) is battling cancer right now, and we think/believe/hope/pray winning the battle.  I now only use pink tees; it helps me remember what is really important and what is not.  And now and again, somebody asks me about the pink tees and I tell them (gently and positively) about it and give them a handful in case it will help them remember as well.

We all benefit from regaining our perspective from time to time, don't we.

A very well done short piece.

An aside- I know little of prosthetics, but I wonder if he wouldn't have more balance and leverage with an artificial leg.

A.G.- all good wishes to your daughter.

AG,

Thought and prayers to your daughter and your family.  My wife is a Hem/Onc physician.  As you can imagine, I hear a lot of stories, I sure hope yours has a happy ending.

There are advances made in biomechanics every day.  Artificial legs and arms have even been disallowed for the Olympics because they are more efficient than God given. The man in the piece is lucky to know exactly what he needs and is coping quite well. The people who need our pity are those who can not see their faults and thus seek no cure. I for one know I have lost my soul.. If only I could buy a plastic replacement for all I have lost.  Don't pity thie man who is better than the hand he was delt. Pity the man who can not even see what he has lost or worse, the man who doesn't care.
