Moab, Utah - Requesting advice from the Treehouse

Hello everyone!

I am heading to Moab in May with a friend to go hiking/camping/etc.... 

I would appreciate some recommendations on places to play while I am in the area.  I will play Redlands Mesa, but beyond that I am in the dark.  I tried searching the forum, but was unable to come up with a comparable thread.  Thanks in advance, as always!

Forrest Richardson's course The Hideout is Monticello, south of Moab. I also say you would be remiss if you did not hike in the Needles of Canyonlands near there.

I enjoyed The Hideout, but most would prefer to take a cart there.

How far are you willing to drive? And/or which direction are you coming in from?

I haven't played either one, but folks are generally high on The Hideout in Monticello, UT and there's also a course in Moab itself. The rest might depend on your willingness to drive.

I prefer the Moab Muni over the Hideout, by far.
When in Grand Junction, the redo of Tiara Rado is worth a look, I actually prefer it over Redlands, not an Engh fan..

I've played the Hideout and would certainly recommend it, especially given that its only a 1 hour drive away.  Its got some really neat holes out there and a few quirky ones to boot.  As its off the beaten path, its rarely crowded...and that was certainly true on the day I played it.

On the Moab side, what are your plans?  Hiking?  Biking?  4x4 Off-roading?  I can give a few recommendations for some cool trails to do as there as well.

The Moab course is interesting for a few reasons. The setting is beautiful and it was virtually designed by a high school drafting class.

Conquistador in Cortez Co. is not that close, but worth the drive if you are a gca geek. The front was built in '61 and the back in '81. It's a museum piece for much of what gca has gone through in construction techniques and philosophies over the decades.

Thank you very much for the info and the recommendations!  After checking out some GCA threads on Lakota Canyon, I will certainly make it over there for a round or two.  I also hope to get to The Hideout.
