The Velvet Hammer at Augusta Country Club is pretty tasty this time of year. This one is made with vanilla bean ice cream. It is more hammer than velvet.

I'm not sure if it was Shivas' mention of a "De&Re" or that it's a Friday afternoon in the Summer that got me thinking about club cocktails. It seems that there are quite a few "signature" cocktails that are made up and then ordered in mass by the membership. The "Fernando" at The Country Club of Brookline being a favorite, personally and otherwise. Recently, I've been introduced to a Minneapolis-St. Paul tradition called a "Bootlegger," which may or may not of contributed to my inability to read Interlachen's greens. Essentially it's lemonade blended with mint leaves, with sprite and vodka. They call it a bootlegger because you can't taste or smell the alcohol over the lemonade and mint and it was made popular during the prohibition. If you're interested, here is an article I found on the drink and it's origins: http://www.citypages.com/2009-09-16/restaurants/the-bootleg-minnesota-s-signature-country-club-cocktail/
Funny, the Southsider is the signature drink at the Vally Club on the West Coast as well.
