Ah yes, the tour of the English countryside...what happened to the Sacred 9?
Sean,
We realized that trying to fit it in the morning we drove from Deal to Hollinwell would be insane.

Favourite course? Best Course? Biggest Surprise?
Ciao
Sean,
The itinerary we came up with, thanks to a handful of local GCAers, turned out to be incredible! Personally, I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat,
maybe skipping Woodhall Spa for another day in Deal or possibly seeing Alwoodley on the way up from Hollinwell to Ganton.
Spent a few days in Scotland at the end of the trip, playing North Berwick, the Old Course, and the New at St Andrews, so all in all a massive variety of wonderful courses, each with its own special flavor, that, taken as a whole, makes this trip one I'll daydream about for a long long time.
Hollinwell has to be the biggest surprise. As special as any of the big "ranked" courses over there.
Deal and Royal St George's: what a 1-2 punch! I'd split 10 rounds 5/5 and want to play Deal first and last but knowing the big all world course next door is a part of any future trip to the area is incentive enough to want to go back. There more than anywhere I wished I was a better golfer.
Rye: the She-Devil of the trip. We had wind to boot so not knowing where to hit it and trying to play the wind from all directions was a blast. Reminded me of Silloth in a lot of ways, particularly when playing across the dunes.
I'm spent at the moment but sometime soon will try to get a thread up to discuss the trip further.
