Had the best mountain day of my life at Kirkwood this year.  18 inches overnight 10 more during the day.  I nearly died from exhaustion.

Aviara Golf Club
Barona Creek - this course is really really good, imho
Torrey Pines North - an average muni, views aside
Torrey Pines South - this is imho again, but it is an average tournament course, views aside
PGA West Jack Nicklaus Tournament
PGA West TPC Stadium  - both are nice tournament venues, and without the rough not too tough for an average golfer like me
GC at Dove Mountain - another nice championship course with very fun greens
Rio Pinar - it's terrible
Grand Cypress New - unexpectidly good
Black Bear - nice course, bad conditioning, looks  a little pale and dirty + it's not very enjoyable to play in 95 degrees without a sign of shade

Well, I'm going to blow this premise out of the water.  My last ten:

The Renaissance Club (Sunday)
North Berwick West Links (Friday)
Crystal Downs (previous Sunday, and three other times this year)
Royal Melbourne (in July)
Country Club of Detroit (grand re-opening in June)
North Shore CC (grand re-opening in May)
Augusta National (with a client in January)
Lost Farm (grand opening last December)
Barnbougle Dunes
St. Andrews Beach

I'm in the wrong business.

Garland:

If you stop to consider that my list goes back to December -- because I've only played 9 rounds of golf between January 1 and August 2 -- you would understand the true nature of the golf business better.

Funny I thought the same thing-only different.
While the list is epic, an awful lot of the fun of golf and playing fun of great courses is the company and mood you play them in.
With the exception of Crystal Downs and possibly North Berwick, I'd suspect much/most of it was client/work related.
Nice work if you can get it, but hardly a day at Goat Hill ;) ;D

Jeff, thoughts on Wykagyl? I've always thought it looks great in the pictures I've seen, but maybe it's overshadowed by WF, Quaker and Fenway just down the street?

Mark,
I'd say in the same league as Fenway and Quaker, and honestly WF, though it's been 20 years since I played WF and no doubt it's bigger

Ron,
played in 30 mph winds on fast aerified greens ::) ::) ::) in early season (April 11) after a bad winter
Native was down so the back and forth nature of the course made it seem quite repetitive
I'm told by others I respect that it's quite good so not a fair assessment on my part, but I found it quite average compared to many of the gems in the MET Section
