While I love going back in time when I visit Shawnee...the course on Washington road is pretty nice

I never have seen Green Meadows and ANGC on the same list/paragraph before ;) ;D

1. Pebble Beach

I had to find this thread because I don't get too many chances to post something interesting in it.

Tim,

What did you think of Diamond Springs?  Was it soft, med, or Firm?

Tim,

What did you think of Diamond Springs?  Was it soft, med, or Firm?

Unfortunately, when I played it the course was soft.  It has rained a ton in the weeks prior to my visit (mid-August), so the course was softer than what I assume are ideal conditions.  That said, I thought Diamond Springs was a ton of fun and an amazing bang for your buck.  If I had to pick one other complaint, it would be that the pro shop gave us a strange look when we suggested we would walk the course.  It seems quite walkable (other than a little quirk in the routing halfway through the backside), but everyone else out there seemed to be on carts.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the board.  I'm not as active as I used to be, though there's been a recent uptick in my participation.  Enjoy!

Just returned from a cracker of a trip:

Royal Melbourne
Kingston Heath
Royal Adelaide
Barnbougle
Lost Farm
Cape Wickham
Ocean Dunes
Tara Iti
Kauri Cliffs
Cape Kidnappers
Kinloch
Paraparaumu Beach
Arrowtown
Jack's Point
Ellerston

Not a bad part of the world for an occasional trip but the 26 hour return flights are killers. Well worth the adventure however.

2017 has probably already peaked for me (May seems always to be my busiest month for golf) and the haul this year has been a cheerful one thus far, viz

January: The Sacred Nine, Gog Magog (Old), Porthcawl
February: Huntercombe, Harlech
March: Luffenham
April: Powfoot, Prestwick, Luffness, Muirfield
May: Wirral Ladies, Hoylake, Seahouses, Goswick, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh

Of those, most pleasing return (after more than 30 years) was Dunstanburgh, and perhaps least inspiring return (after nearly 40 years) was Bamburgh. For a day's congenial fun, Prestwick remains pretty unrivalled, anywhere on the planet. Best greens (by some distance), Goswick.

All in all have to say it's shaping up to be an awesome GCA related year.

The Machrie
Ardfin (on Jura)
Machrihanish
Machrihanish Dunes
Loch Lomond
Alwoodley
Ganton
Royal Dornoch
Castle Stuart
Royal Aberdeen
Trump International
Cruden Bay

April and May were stellar. June is a stay at home month with a lot of hosting of GCA friends here in NL and with the courses in excellent shape it should be a blast.

July, August and September are travel months and the end of the year is not planned yet.

We have led a good life and am seldom envious of others.  The big exception is whenever this thread pops up.  Boy do I wish I could play such a variety of great courses on a regular basis!

Mark,

let me know what you think of Sandmoor. Easy to spot the original 14 holes but it has a really good set of par 3's. Have you played Scarcroft or Headingly yet?

I've been lucky this year as I have taken some time off work to go travelling with the family. So far in 2017 I've managed:

Cape Wickham
Kingston Heath
Royal Melbourne West
Barnbougle Dunes
Barnbougle Lost Farm
Cape Kidnappers
Mauna Kea
Kapalua Plantation
Dundonald Links
Turnberry
Woburn Duchess
Bandon Dunes
Bandon Trails
Pacific Dunes
Old Macdonald
Pebble Beach
Spyglass Hill
Pasatiempo
Berkshire Blue
Berkshire Red
Dunstable Downs
Moortown

For what it is worth, Cape Wickham was my favourite of all of these.

Adam, I appreciate the bedpost notching as much as the next guy, even though it's the antithesis of the genesis of this thread, but this would be your last ten:

Bandon Trails
Pacific Dunes
Old Macdonald
Pebble Beach
Spyglass Hill
Pasatiempo
Berkshire Blue
Berkshire Red
Dunstable Downs
Moortown
