Ok just back from the Fall Circuit  ;D  why do golf trips have to come to an end....?

In this order, not 10 but one trip:

Chicago Golf Club
Bandon (all courses except Bandon Dunes (my least favorite)
Portland Golf Club
Meadow Club
Cal Club
San Francisco Golf Club
Cypress Point
MPCC Dunes
Valley Club of Montecito
LACC (North & South)
Riviera
Links at Terranea
Quivira
Diamante Dunes & El Cardonal
Cabo Del Sol

Nice to visit the sun for a while.
David,
I'm planning a trip back to Cabo soon.  I've played Cabo del Sol (Ocean, not to be confused with Desert) and would gladly play it several more times.  What are your thoughts on the Diamante courses?  Would I be missing out to not include them.  I wrestle with sticking with what I know vs. trying something new.  Granted, I don't think I could go wrong with Diamante, but lodging prices will go up considerably to get access.  BTW if you go back to Cabo, you have to try Los Tres Gallos!

Dan, I would say if you can play Diamante Dunes. If you had to play two courses there by staying or whatever, then play it twice. Skip Tiger's course. Diamante Dunes is excellent and worth playing twice. Especially if you have already been to Cabo. It's very walkable as well. I walked it in like 95 degrees fighting a rough cold and had a great experience. You will enjoy it.

It seems unlikely I will add many (any?) more in 2016, so here are my last 10 (oldest to newest)

Wayzata Country Club, Wayzata MN
Windsong Farm Golf Club, Independence, MN
Bunker Hills Golf Club, Coon Rapids, MN
Atlanta Country Club, Marietta, GA
Sweetens Cove Golf Club, South Pittsburg, TN
Chattanooga Golf and Country Club, Chattanooga, TN
Red Run Golf Club, Royal Oak, MI
North Shore Country Club, Glen Head, NY
Golden Valley Golf and Country Club, Golden Valley, MN
Midland Hills Country Club, Roseville, MN

Feel fortunate to have played 33 different courses this year and nearly all have been at least pretty good.

HI Ian,
Stayed clear of all of the above...a really wonderful natural course. Some terrific green sites. It will be interesting to see if they can move forward with their plans.

Tim,

I thought North Shore was cool. They have done a very nice job with trees and there are some cool greens complexes.

There's a cool revine that goes through the property and Mac/Raynor did a nice job routing holes along and across it.

The new Doak holes fit in very nicely. I didn't know until after the round which holes were actually new.

Canyon West G.C.
Fossil Creek Golf Club
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Riverside Golf Club
WestRidge Golf Club
Lake Arlington
Mansfield National
Frisco Trails
Bridlewood Golf Club
The Tribute

All in the DFW area and all public.  One of my favorites are Canyon West - out in the country and very QUIET with a dozen fun/interesting golf holes.
The other is The Tribute with replica holes from Scotland/Ireland.  The "Postage Stamp" and 1,17,18 from TOC are good, faithful replicas.

Jason - It was a good course.  Some people absolutely love it.  I wouldn't go quite that far, but it is worth playing.  Some interesting holes.  The par 3's are really good and challenging.  One criticism I would have is that on many tee shots you really do not know how your ball ends up from the tee.  There is actually more room than it appears, but without knowing the course, I kind of felt like I was hitting a lot of shots and hoping.  For the members that play the course a lot, this probably isn't a concern.  The course does have terrific drainage.  We played after a severe downpour and the greens and fairways did a good job absorbing A LOT of water.

Do you live in the area?

Town and Country Club - MN

Hi Vaughn,

What did you think of Town & Country?
I love T&C. Such a creative use of the the land and now urban terrain especially for the time.  Holes #2 and #3 par 3's always play like sucker pins to me, so close yet so elusive.  (IMHO I think the bunkering work is great.  The #15,16,17 stretch of par 5's require both strategic and physical pacing to get home. I recall my first time playing one hot summer day (Another Par 5?! Are you kidding me?)

I am especially fond of the stretch along (Cretin?) where my friend and I goad our big hitting sons in to making bad decisions... every year.  The kids play the yardage, the Dad's play the course.  "Sure, you kids are up 2 now but we'll get them back along the street."
One day, I'm vowing to spend an afternoon trying to glean some local knowledge how to best play 9.  It looked like fairly recent bunker, landing area expansion and tree work over the years has really accentuated classic lines of play. I can now retrospectively blame the branches for previous poor scores!  Big T&C fan and fan of the work done!

While I love going back in time when I visit Shawnee...the course on Washington road is pretty nice
