In a playing guide to the Old Course which belonged to my late brother-in-law, published, I imagine ca 1950, by J & G Innes of St Andrews, I noticed that WH Fowler was among the former course record holders. What is interesting is the remark by the publisher that each course record to that time contained at least one five.
