After a few days up close to these guys at the Scottish Open, Bubba's "swearing" seems positively benign. I've heard less industrial language on building sites.

It's not really the swearing really but the whining about a bloody sniffle.  You would never hear a European player blame a terrible swing on his own runny nose!

In Monty's case it was the sound of butterflies taking off and landing 3 fairways over that caused him trouble. :)

Will,

It must be maddening to be a delicate genius :)

For those who are fans of Bull Durham, it strikes me that a line from that film could be applied to some of these guys:
"Don't think Meat. Just pitch."

Bubba needs to give the "redneck" comments a rest... Especially when he's wearing a $200k+ watch! ::)

Did you boys catch Miguel Angel Jimenez's post-round interview yesterday?  ESPN does a two-question interview and the interviewer (let's call him "Jim") will offer a parting shot, to which the player is required merely to smile and nod.

Jimenez's interview was directed by two questions: (a) tell me 'bout your round; and (b) what does Seve Ballesteros mean to you (after all, your a Spaniard, and so forth).  The 'parting shot' was "I see you have your cigars in hand--you're a man who loves life.  Back to you, Mike."

Well, Jimenez wouldn't duck out so easily:  "Yes, golf is a great enjoyment in life.  Wine and cigars, too, add to all of life's charms.  Understand the aesthetic pleasures of life, the enriching pleasures...."  He went on, and on, and on.  And you could see "Jim" gesturing with his left hand, trying to move things along, trying to get back to the tower.  And you could read his mind, saying "Geez, Miguel, this was just a parting comment, not another interview question".  Jimenez was profoundly and charmingly oblivious to the lateness of the hour, as it were.  He simply held forth. Philosophical.  Aristocratic.

It appears that another interviewer, knowing Jimenez's love of Rioja, the interviewer asked Miguel if he would be celebrating his 66 with a glass or two.  Jimenez responded, "no, not celebrating--but of course I will have a glass of Rioja tonight."

I love this man.

I started to type the same thing. Monty would never blame his own runny nose for a bad shot. But he might blame the runny nose on some bloke in the grandstands.

Wade,

I don't think that was Bubba Watson. It was another "Bubba" named Boo.

A couple decades ago some rich guy was running as the Republican nominee for governor of Texas. A female reporter asked him wasn't his cowboy hat and exaggerated drawl mainly an attempt to appeal to what she called "The Bubba Vote" among Texans. His reply was classic..."Darlin', I am Bubba".

Not really, it is a limited edition that retails for around $350,000.  Richard Mille is an interesting brand where models that retail for between $60,000 and $100,000 have been selling at reputable auction houses for around $25,000.  I believe Bubba wearing the watch during his idiot video may have destroyed the brand.

Audemars Piguet (AP) is suddenly an impressive force in golf.  Now if they can just get past the special edition they are designing for Lebron James.

You gotta give Rolex credit for pushing Tiger off on Tag Heuer, perfect timing.

Note:  The week dollar is the real culprit in the stupid pricing we are seeing today.

JK,the sticker price on the Bubba Watson Mille is $525,000.With only < 40 pieces produced, currency fluctuations don't really matter as they would on Mille's other watches. The watch was first produced in January/February of this year, why would they already be showing up in auction houses?

Mille's watches are only interesting to people who think Blanc Pain is something on which to put butter.

As to the actual dollar amount paid by anyone dumb enough to buy one,I have no clue. This assumes that one has been/will ever be sold.

Omega is the company which is in the process of supplanting Rolex as the "official" watch of golf.

I'm not the biggest Bubba fan in the world, but what difference does it make what kind of watch he wears?  Does he really pump up this redneck persona that everyone on hear says he does?  Obviously his name and his locale have certain stereotypes, but its not like he runs around w/ a big dip in his mouth and boots everywhere he goes.   I mean look at the way he dresses...and his pink shafted clubs.  He looks like the preppiest country clubber this side of DLIII.  The camo was not hunting camo; it was some type of tribute to military members.

And besides, is Rory not a true Irish lad anymore because he drives a Ferrari?

Dale, you have to keep up with the times: The in thing to do now is to claim to be non-judgmental, that everyone has a right to live life however he likes, but then rip everyone who does things you don't like!

WW - Bubba is sponsored by Travis Mathew which came out with those camo pants and greenish shirt with the silly pockets for the US Open. He clearly was required to wear them 4 days and I'm pretty sure he will be wearing the same black/white all 4 days at the British.

You can definitely take the redneck out of the man who plays bright pink shafts and Travis Mathew clothing...  one of the "hip-ist" golf clothing lines out there!!
