August 17 Dunes Club GCA Play Day
« on: July 05, 2011, 06:20:50 PM »
Fresh off our fun day at Beverly CC, Rick Holland and I would like to host a golfclubatlas play day at Mike Keiser's Dunes Club in New Buffalo Michigan.  We're looking at Wednesday, August 17th.  We'd probably be looking at four foursomes, with an anticipated cost of $150 per player, plus caddie.  That includes golf, food and beverages.  Balls in the air around 11:00 Michigan time.  If there's interest, we can extend to another round at nearby Point O' Woods, Lost Dunes or the highly underrated Pottawattomie.  Plenty of lodging available.  Who's interested?

I cannot attend (likely to increase attendance) but I will honestly say that my day at Dunes Club last summer is in my top 5 golf experiences ever.  The caddies are phenomenal.  The clubhouse, the staff, the menu, etc. are all the absolute perfect size.  The no rules concept is genius.  The lack of tee markers before it was cool to go without tee markers makes for great matches and oh by the way, the golf course is fantastic.  I envy all who go.  Dunes Club is really, really special.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

In, barring any unforeseen circumstances.  Also up for a round at wherever afterward.  Beverly was a blast, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Let me know the details please...I'd love to meet some GCA'ers!

I am available, it just depends on the date (earlier the better). Also would be great to try and get in another round in the area.

Terry,

Thanks for putting together another wonderful event.  While I can't make it up to play, if there's room I'd like to catch up with the group for dinner afterward.  Please keep me in mind.

Terry,

Put me down as a tentative yes.  I'm waiting to hear back about a possible commitment that would take me out but if at all possible, this is too good to pass up.  I should be able to give a firm yes or no in the next day or two.  Thanks for the look!

Great response!  We'll wait for others to trickle in, but it looks like we have a solid showing for Wednesday and the Dunes Club.

We will cap the group at 20 and I'll look into playing the next day at Pottawattomie, which is a fun, under-the-radar old time hidden gem of a track.  It's also a no-rules kind of place, perfect for this crowd.  I'll make arrangements for dinner on Wednesday night in New Buffalo at Casey's a great pub and grill only two minutes from the Dunes Club.

Here's the current list, including "maybes":

T. Lavin
Rick Holland
Jonathan Cummings
Geoffrey Walsh
John Kavanaugh
John Kirk
Kyle Henderson
Ted Cahill (maybe)
David Mulle
Michael George
Howard Riefs
Bill Seitz
Ryan Potts
Bill Steele
Jimmy Muratt
Steve Salmen
Jon Heise
Jim Franklin
Jud Tigerman (maybe)
John Mayhugh
Zack Molnar

ALTERNATES

Matt Harrison (+1)

This will be fun.
