Count me in if there is room. I know I am late to the party.

How far is Forest Dunes from The Dunes Club out of curiosity?

4 to 4.5 hours.

Thanks. I may play there Tuesday morning.

Terry, unfortunately I checked some things and won't be able to make it. Either way, thanks for the opportunity and setting up such a great outing.

Terry,

Thanks for the IM.  However I didn't see my name listed in the list of possible attendees you posted earlier and I just want to make sure I am still in the Circle of Trust...

Thanks again for coordinating this visit!

Terry,

Another very generous offer...I wish I could join but it looks like I moved to Minneapolis a year too soon!! :) Anyone in Chicago or within 200 miles of New Buffalo is nuts not to take you up on your offer. I first played the Dunes about 12 years ago on a high school trip set up by a local pro knowing next to nothing about the club or course...I was totally blown away. That day and every time I've visited since has been a real treat.

Have fun guys!

Terry (and Rick):
Thanks for the very generous offer.  I would certainly attend if I still lived in Chicago.  Have a great time.

Man, I really want to do this. If I flew into Chicago or another nearby airport could I catch a ride with someone? If so, I'm definitely in!!!

Michael-In honor of another recent thread, why don't you have Mayhugh pick you up and see if people can decide who is who? :) On second thought, that may cause the Earth to spin off its axis.

Cute! I am not the new Mayhugh. I'm just a flash in the pan. With John's new connection in England he will put so much distance between himself and pretenders to his throne that his position on top of the GCA realm will be very secure for a long time to come. It couldn't happen to a nicer and more deserving guy. I'm happy for him... and happy for the rest of us that we will get to see his pictures and vicariously enjoy his travels.

I know I am very late to this, but if there is still room I would love to join. I too have wanted to play at the dunes club for quite some time. Is there still room?

Matt,

I'll put you and your friend down as alternates at this point, because we're going to cap it off at 20.  I'd venture that there's a reasonable probability that you'll work your way onto the list.

Josh Lesnik (also a Dunes Club member and president of KemperLesnik, which manages Bandon and other properties) is also going to join us.  That might allow us to expand the group to 24 if necessary.  Here's the list as of now.  I'd appreciate it if everybody could check to make sure that they are properly identified:

T. Lavin (Dunes Member)
Rick Holland (Dunes Member)
Josh Lesnik (Dunes Member)
Peter Thompson (Dunes Member)

John Kavanaugh
John Kirk (plus one maybe)
Ted Cahill (maybe)
Ken Fry (last minute decision)
Michael George
Aaron Lepp
Howard Riefs
Bill Seitz
Bill Steele
Steve Salmen
Jon Heise
Jim Franklin
Jud Tigerman
John Mayhugh
Zack Molnar
Michael Whitaker
Matt Harrison (+1)
Chris Blakely
Ryan Kelly
Sean Heenan

Nope, we'll expand it by a foursome to accommodate the interest.  Happy to do that.

Woo Hoo!!!

Before I book my airline ticket... will there be any pre or post event golf in the offing?

Here's my best guess:  I think we'll have several groups play Pottawattomie, a private club about fifteen minutes away, toward Chicago.  It's an old layout, with a lot of great holes, maybe three wacky greens, but a lot of fun, very low key and it's very affordable by private club standards.  Not sure at this point who will play both days, but I can't help but think that it makes sense to play early the next day and they have people head back to the airport.  I'll tentatively make arrangements to book three foursomes.

There is just a modest clubhouse.  Don't think there is lodging on site, John.

Plenty of affordable motels nearby and a great casino hotel, the Four Winds, is only a five minute drive from Dunes Club.

Also, I did book three foursomes at Pottawattomie in Long Beach, Indiana the following day, August 18 at 8:00.
