Going to Oakmont for first time 8/2
« on: June 28, 2011, 02:18:21 PM »
I will be at Sewickley the day before. This leaves Shinnecock as the only wish list one left.

Terrific, Mike...will be interested to hear your thoughts after.

I walked it during the last two days of the 83 US Open back when it was a parkland course.  ;)   Hoping to get back someday to see it as a lovely treeless plain as it looks awesome in pics and television.  ;D

 Mike,

I walked it the Sat. of the last Open. From my vantage point it was awe inspiring.

 David,

I'm committed to the baseball grip; it works to reduce the pain.

Mike- Enjoy and give us your thoughts after you play. As far as walking Open venues I think I was most enamored with Oakmont, really a special place.

Or down your driveway, trying to stop it halfway down!

Mike,

I know your probably committed already, but I highly recommend Edgewood C.C. over Sewickley, would be a much better use of your golf time in the Burgh. Enjoy Oakmont. You will love it.

Greg, its not even close. If your into back to front sloping greens at 4% hole after hole after hole, by all means Sewickley is your place. But if you want to play a real golf course with good variety and a great set of greens, go to Edgewood.

Jonathan - what hole is the first picture?  I'm having trouble figuring it out.

What a place...

Ah yes. The clubhouse in the background threw me off.

Edgewood is one hilly mother.

Then again, that really does not make it much different than most other courses in southwestern PA.
