For Mike Young
« on: June 28, 2011, 01:39:26 PM »
Working on a deal (unrelated to golf) the other day I got an email from a party that contained the sentence:

"We are going to make it more like it used to be than it ever was."

I immediately thought of Mike Young and his take on course restorations.

I hate to feed him such great lines, but couldn't resist.

Gee....
Sound more like a line for a Baptist preacher....

But it does say a lot about many of the restorations out there....

There was a cartoon in a New Yorker a few weeks back where some guy in a suit was explaining to a room full of underlings "Now we're moving on to the next phase of keeping things exactly like they've always been before".

Bob - that should appeal to a certain demographic quite well. Sort of like the unspoken "The older I get the better looking I used to be".  I for example am often amazed to recall how brilliant and witty I once was.

Mike - keep up the good fight. Even the best hucksters can only fool most of the people all of the time (or is it all of the people most of the time).
