First time I heard about “Land Banking” it was about this facility constructed in 1993. The owner told me he was going to mess with it until someone bought the ground. This place provided a service to every golfer in the community. They had the only legit club fitter in town. That owner is dead now and golf is still being played.

What an awesome looking facility, love it...👊

Did any/all of you oracles & soothsayers out there put any money to work today?

Folks,

Just a gentle reminder that the "Ignore" person feature is more fun than tariff-ing other countries, trust me.

Not only do you keep your blood pressure down by not having to read their posts but you do see they posted and are left to humorously guess what nonsense they posted this time.   ;D

Is seems to me that tariffs will return manufacturing to countries that are better stewards of the environment.   Certainly countries that have higher GDP per co2 emissions.  Can't we all be happy for that?

That is one of the many fallacies of modern economics.  USA emissions are low compared to our GDP because we have outsourced a lot of the emissions (ie the manufacturing) to other countries.

Fortunately, a higher percentage of our  GDP comes from Goldman Sachs and Blackrock, so it is inherently "cleaner".  That said, even without the emissions to GDP figure, do you really think manufacturing is cleaner in China?  Which says nothing of loading all the crap on a cargo ship and transporting it across the world.

Maybe Trump would make more people happy if he focused more on the environment vis a vis trade? or perhaps insist on a global living wage as part of trade agreements?

Corey:

I had the opportunity to look at a potential project on the west side of Beijing many years ago, out where the coal plants are.  It was like pictures of Pittsburgh from the early days of the 20th century.  But, they also do a lot of precision manufacturing over there, that has to be done in very clean workshops.

Speaking of Pittsburgh, apparently US manufacturing is only allowed if it promotes continued use of fossil fuels.

Interesting MCirba, is that actually what you glean from that article?

Prefer they run on Nuclear from Three Mile Island but Governor Shapiro only reopened that bad boy for Microsoft so they could run a wasteful AI farm with none of the energy going to people.  Might help him with 2028 contributions however.

@Chris / Craig,
If they shorted the market, they made money - shorts made at least $127B USD since 2 April.
