What is your golfing utopia?  The perfect game of golf....

I'm thinking a late evening round at paraparaumu beach with the awesome light wafting across the course and my friends playing in bare feet.

And "golf sack" slung over your shoulder with half a dozen clubs spilling out!

For me it has to be early evening on a classic links with the breeze fading and the sun casting shadows across the crumpled fairways.

I did get a video on Facebook last week of a friend returning to the US from an Ireland trip with a group of mates in an extremely smart private jet!

I'd have to go with any trip to Bandon Dunes.

Coming close behind would be a trip to Pinehurst and then a private golf tour of Los Angeles.

Ally & Ken,

You beauties! I have never felt the "jolly golf" aura anywhere else that I feel when I'm on Brora. It isn't the grandest, toughest or best course by a long shot, but there is something about the golf there, the sum of its parts... that can't be beat. The locals are as friendly and engaging as any Scots I've had the pleasure of meeting. Special spot that Brora!

Now that's a pretty good answer.  There may be momentary highlights that beat it but for two or three days of sustained golfing enjoyment, BUDA is right up there.

Get on a ferry in New London Connecticut around sunrise with 3 friends and head out to Fishers Island in early October. If this is utopia our group is the only one on the tee sheet. Play 18 holes, lather, rinse, repeat. I have heard it said before that Fishers may be the course in heaven and it`s hard to argue that.

       Every year at Brora there is an organised Visitors v Locals match the friday before the Clynelish 5 day open this year its on the 29th July and is played with great spirit !
In saying that you can also play visitors v locals any other day with great banter !

 I am going to show my ignorance here.
I have been to Sand Hills twice, but am unaware of the "church nine"..description..please explain.
As Sand Hills in the waning sun would certainly be amongst my utopia's, perhaps this will aid me in deciding which is actually my Utopia?

Amongst similar time of day at Ballyneal, early morning at Western Gailes, playing through a misty morning at Merion, anytime of day at Cypress.....simply too many to choose just one.

I've had some moments on the range at Bandon- I'm the first person there, the sunrise is a faint hint of orange- listening to the white noise of the waves crashing and knowing I have 36 ahead of me- thats a nice place

Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta
