Another GCA.com get together at Mountain Ridge ?
« on: May 30, 2011, 10:18:48 PM »
Since the last get together at Mountain Ridge many changes/restoration work has been done.

Recently the club approved substantive, continued changes/restoration work to the golf course, to begin this August.

The course is taking on an Oakmontesque like appearance.

As such, I'm considering having another GCA.com get together next Spring, prior to Memorial Day, probably on the Monday prior or two Monday's prior.

Who would be interested in attending.

Play will probably be limited to 84 golfers

As speakers,
I'd like to have Brad Klein make another of his great presentations, Mike Davis Executive Director of the USGA, Ron Prichard the consulting
architect and Cliff Moore the extraordinary Superintendent

For those who attended the GCA.com get together on Sept 17, 2010, you will be blown away by the changes/improvements to the golf course in just a short time.  They are dramatic........ Stunning

Patrick,

I would be interested in attending if everything else permits.  I thought the greens at Mountain Ridge are some of the most interesting I've seen, and I would love to play the course again.

Was bummed I couldn't make the last one and would love the opportunity to see it next Spring.

If this is a couple of weekends before memorial Day then there's a chance I may be able to make it.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Pat - I'm definitely interested and echo Joe's and JNC's comments regarding the day and the greens, respectively.  It would be especially interesting to see the course again just a few months prior to the club hosting the US Senior Amateur.

Pls count me in - 'Oakmontesque' sounds very interesting - my observation last year was that as phenomenal as Mountain Ridge is, the course seemed a few years behind Plainfield in terms of tree removal - can't wait to see the 2012 version!

Wouldn't miss it. Would love to see the changes and with some hoped for dry weather see the course running.

Patrick, when you say "Oakmontesque " are you clearing trees and opening vistas across swaths of holes? If not that, then what?
