Dan G - ok, you're the second to say this!
Pasa is a tough course, no doubt. Let me just say that the more one plays it, the more doable it becomes. I don't think MacKenzie ever intended it to be a "brute." What makes it tough are today's absurd green speeds combined with the cool contours Mac created. That makes for infinite putting if you get some bad pins.
Get decent pins, and it's so much easier than Spyglass, or Olympic, or Bayonet, or freakin' Poppy Hills, or Lake Merced, or SFGC, or.... the list goes on - that's just the GOOD courses! We have some awful courses out here that in terms of difficulty make Pasa look like a pitch and putt.
But hey, we each find different things that make a course difficult. For me Olympic is MUCH tougher than Pasa because it plays so long... you think Pasa plays over it's distance - what about Olympic Lakeside? 6800 playing 7800 due to wet and hills.
This is a cool conversation in any case.
Hey, send me a message and I'll be happy to flail around Pasa also! I do love the course, no matter what I say. I'd just like to then take you to Bayonet, which although dumbed down considerably today well... let's just say if you have a better score there than Pasa you will have either thrown the comparison or proved your point!
