......can someone tell me why the FA Cup Final was broadcast on ESPN today? I would have thought it would have been on BBC or Sky Sports for sure. Has ESPN been broadcasting Premiership football all season long?

David, it is generally on Fox soccer channel or ESPN2. BBC never has any football. Don't know why or how but that is the case normally. Thanks.

Fox currently has the US rights to the Champions League. They've been inconsistent about showing games, but surely they'll show the final. It could be on Fox Soccer, Fox Sports, or any of the many regional channels. Likely it will be on many of these channels.

ITV and Sky share the rights in the UK and both will be showing the final. Being at Wembley and having Manchester playing, I don't think it'll be possible to miss it though!

The FA Cup Final remains one of the "crown jewels", sporting events that, by statute, must be available to broadcast by terrestrial transmission, free to air. That means, in reality, BBC or ITV and, for the past few years, ITV h the contract. It's also broadcast on Sky.

The FA Cup Final was broadcasted to the UK by ESPN.

And to England by ITV.

In Scotland we got the Kevin Costner Film, 13 Days !

Hence, I was in the pub watching it

My apologies, I didn't realise it had gone from Sky to ESPN. I tend to watch the terrestrial broadcast on principal and, in any case didn't see the game at all yesterday as I was en route to your home town!

Stoke are not a bad team and are currently 9th in the Premier League. In fact there are really only a few "bad" teams in the Premier League, just look at the EPL teams performance in Europe. Even Fulham have made the Europa league final. In fact given Man City are already in the champions league Stoke should get the FA cup Europa league spot. Much worse teams like the 97 Middlesbrough side and 10 Portsmouth team have managed to get to the final the same season they were relegated.

Stoke in the final is the glory of the FA Cup , that is what it is all about...any team on any given day and to some extent the luck of the draw when it is made...
I mean the two semi's had the two Manchester teams against eachother...which would have been a great final, especially with United going for a treble.......and Stoke vs Everton...., so luck of the draw has somethig to do with it...the glory of the event!

The premiership however sorts out the men from the boys and eliminates such luck/good fortune/strange circunstances and one good/bad day....that is why the two co exist and will continue to do so...
