Lake Sunapee C.C. in N.H.
« on: May 16, 2011, 08:20:43 PM »
Has anyone out there played Lake Sunapee C.C. in New Hampshire? It is supposedly a very nice Ross course that Ron Forse & Co. did a very nice job restoring.

Thanks for any and all replies :)

I have not played it but hiked all through it one day with my son and probably saw 6 or 7 holes. Based on what I saw, it sits in pretty long list of very good but not great Ross courses in New England in a spectacular area. Considering it's location in the mountains, it sits in a valley of sorts and has good land for a mountain course.

It is on the Sweeney/Moore trip schedule for one of these days as I think they accept outside play under certain conditions.

Baker Hill GC by Rees Jones is nearby for a nice old/new contrasting 36 holes day. The land there looks a little severe.

I played Lake Sunapee back in about 2006 late in the season.  It's decent, if not spectacular.  I remember a relatively standard fare of restored Ross, new deep grass-faced bunkers, enlarged greens, and a good challenge.  I also remember elevation changes playing with depth perception too.

The area is sort of no-man's land off 89, with only the decent but worse CC of NH nearby.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....
