It looks like Seve is losing his battle with cancer.

When it comes to this cancer crap I am a little lost on what we should be praying for.  Any suggestions?  I will pray that God doesn't get all pissy over someone being a bit too competitive and the consequences that follow.

In his prime he was epic.  Never saw him win a big one but I tried to climb a tree at Kiawah to get a better view of him.  He could be funny too.  Will never forget him saying to a group of writers, after being asked what he thought of the press, "Sometimes you guys use the wrong club."

I really loved that "Spanish Armada" stuff with Seve and Olazabal in the Ryder Cup; those guys were so competitive!

Welcome, Steve. Are you by any chance the author of Dream Golf?

Guilty as charged -- I did write Dream Golf.   After poking around on this site for years, reading interviews and course reviews, finally decided I might be ready for the discussion group.

Beware!

After clicking on the link, my security software messaged that my computer had been attacked.  The attempt was blocked, and I don't think the message was in error.

Seve has been in my prayers for a long time and will continue with greater effort.

JK, for a Catholic boy (are you not?), what kind of question is that?

Steve Goodwin,

Enjoyed the book.  Took it to Bandon with me during the KP in March and re-read part of it while there to remind me of the "behind the scenes" that made the resort so enjoyable.  Too few people give little thought to the great efforts required to provide the playing grounds we all love.  Well done.

The link works fine from my computer.  Checked it before posting and twice since.  No problems, no virus messages.  Sorry it caused you a problem.

Thanks, Robin.  I brought it up again and no message this time.  Perhaps the attempted intrusion came from elsewhere.

John that is the worst thing I've ever seen written on this forum.
This man is dying.  To criticize like that at such a time is so far from acceptable that I've suggested to Ran that he banish you from this website.

Chris,

You have to be kidding. Praying that God forgives the same sin that I am guilty of is hardly wrong. A bit selfish at worse.

Steve,

Welcome to GCA as well.  I also loved the book and thought it was very well done.

As for Seve,

I hope everything can be done for him from a medical perspective to keep him around a bit longer...hang in there Seve.

Robin, thanks for the link.  He's my hero.  Watched him as much as I could, only met him once.  He was getting a "lesson" from Mac O'grady at TPC Scottsdale.   When I asked him why, he said "You have seen my recent scores, no?"

A couple of people have Tweeted that Seve passed away... including Justin Rose.

Apparently it's not true, but he is in critical condition. Stay tuned as the news will probably come through in next couple of days.
Next!

A professional and a gentleman, Seve was unfailingly a class act.

One of the most depressing things about getting older is wathcing the people pass away who at one time seemed immortal; Mickey Mantle, John Wayne, Jerry Garcia, and now Seve.

You guys pray. I'll pop a good Rioja, fire up a Paella and dig out the DVD of the 79 Open.
Seat of the pants, swashbuckling golf. What I aspire to every round.
Thanks, Seve.

Marty,

Excellent call, but I'm holding out for Gib's Paella!
