What I came away with from my visit to HVCC was an appreciation for their greens.  No two alike from my recollection.  The club seems to be in the process of reclaiming some green space.  I noticed more that a few greens that are raised ala Pinehurst that shrug off the ill played approach or chip.

Thanks again to HVCC for hosting another GAP Member Play Day.

The course was in excellent condition even after a rainy spring. The greens were fast as usual. I finally birdied the 11th-luckily it was a level putt- but I stopped counting my 3 putts elsewhere. There's a lot of character in those greens.

I look forward to a return visit that will include the C nine for the first time.

Does Flynn do uphill greens the best ? My experience is that ,except for the crazy speeds we have now, he provides the most slope to keep it interesting without going over the top or being boring.

Played HVCC this past weekend in GAP Matches. What a place and what a treat it was. An terrific piece of land and I really like how Flynn did not use the creek for overly dramatic impact. Not sure I'm articulating this as I'd like, but the restraint he helped highlight some of the nuances of play.

I think this is best demonstrated by the fact that the creek doesn't come into the equation until the 5th hole. It's very present on the 10th, 11th, 12th (!), 13th, 14th and 17th.
