Final two will be Pebble Beach and Bethpage Black with the Black pulling the upset.  But I'm just guessing.

A couple of questions:

1)  I'm assuming you have to log-in/register before it will allow you to vote?

2)  Why does the 1st round take almost two months to complete?  By the time they get to the final four, at the end of the year sometime, most folks will have forgot about this.

Matty G said that Old Mac, because of it only opened last year, isn't eligible for GD's Top 100 list until 2013 -- hence the reason it was left off the bracket

http://twitter.com/#!/Matt_Ginella/status/55676005179867138

Oh Yeah...that makes perfect sense. ::) ::)

and some trust these yo-yo's to define anything???

Contrary to popular belief, GD has a system and Old Mac was not finished in time to meet THEIR criteria. So it has to wait until 2013 top make it. I do not think it is a slam dunk to make top 10. This bracket is all good fun. It is certainly not going to change the world.

Shouldn't they have started with 68 teams and 4 play-in games?  Otherwise you might miss a Final Four team, err, course.

Pine Needles barely lost to Jeff's Giant's Ridge and Plantation knocked out Camp Creek.

This next one has TPC v. Longaberger and Homestead-Cascades v. Fallen Oak...it ends in three days.

I am glad Giant's Ridge won their match. They were being crushed when I voted last week. It is a VERY deserving course. We need a GCA event there in order to attract more attention to this place.

I'm sure this has been talked about on another thread, but what happened with Wild Horse this year? Wasn't it in the 50s or 60s the last rating? I don't think there are 100 public courses better than Wild Horse. Oh well....

Whooo Hoooo! Go Quarry!  Bring it on Kapalua Plantation.......

BTW, I have reason to be back in MN this year, and shamelessly plan on including a few weekends in those trips to play my courses. I don't know if I know my schedule far enough in advance to have an outing while I am there, but will let you know, just in case its possible.

Two big-time upsets in the most recent matches.

Fallen Oak trounced Cascades 243 votes to 73 - take that classic golf.

Longaberger took down TPC Sawgrass 222 to 102.

Next up:

CB vs. Wilderness at Fortune Bay

and

No. 2 vs. Spanish Bay

This is now reduced to a testimony of who can work the social network the best...No doubt that Longaberger did a better job, as it is not a better course.

I don't know if anyone here is continuing to follow this, but I have been dutifully putting in my votes where I have played both courses.  Ronald, no doubt you are correct, as this contest comes to working the social network.  How else can one explain some winners receiving 500ish votes and others (like Harbour Town only receiving 87).

No disrespect to Pinehurst #4, but how it could be beating Pac Dunes 250 votes to 50 is beyond me.  With so few votes required to win a round, I guess you just need to ask a few buddies to vote for your course and you'll win.

Pac Dunes loss = credibility lost

I know some of you guys are on facebook--go vote! Judging by how many comments there are from "members" at Pinehurst--they obviously got the word out. And perhaps they are taking advantage of being able to vote more than once...   ;) :o

And while you're there, vote for Paa-Ko! (nothing against Broadmoor East).

World Woods currently getting trounced by Arcadia Bluffs, while Pronghorn has Cuscowilla doubled...clearly the GCA brethren is not voting.
