Template Hole Madness! - Redan - Taking Nominations!!!

The next template hole up for discussion is Redan. Please submit your favorite redan holes for the tournament. I will take nominations for a week. I suspect this will be a large field.

Qualification: a front-to-back sloped, diagonal green with a bunker on the side facing the approach. I will accept both the traditional Redan (right to left diagonal), and reverse Redan (left to right diagonal).

Richard,

I played the Marshwood course at The Landings, on Skidaway Island (Georgia), a few weeks ago. The course was originally designed by Arnold Palmer and co. But Tim Liddy redid it a few years ago.

The 4th hole there is (now) one of the coolest, flat-land reverse Redan holes I've seen/played. The view from the tee is stunningly cool; especially upon first sight (I wish I'd had a camera with me, but didn't). And the green is really, really well done. It's a super-cool looking hole that was really fun to play... made from scratch (read: featureless ground), too.

Good call by Bill on Piping rock.

For a more modern version, I'll throw out the 16th at Apache Stronghold.  Thought that one was pretty decent.  Has the fear of the bunkering and table top config.  Setting is pretty good too.

Pic is unfortunately poor.

If the original is always going to be the winner just because it's the first, then there is no point to the THM.  If Richard wants to do this, then just leave out the original.

I agree with you, and I don't think the original should automatically win either.  I think people should just be judging the architectural merits of the hole.  Whether it was the original or the 57th copy isn't an issue to me.
