Here's a venue which in past years', was in the middle of the pack, ranking-wise.  Sentimentality drowns me every time when I think of past rounds here; the pyramid-like dunes, very, very good greens, and an unhurried links experience.  My first links golf in Eire was @ Lahinch, one hour off the plane, yet, Enniscrone , now that they have added new dunes holes; the former 16th is now the opener, is even more seductive!  Anyone had the pleasure lately.  I think it will be my first stop in September, before my beloved Rosses Point, Portrush, and ferry over to Machrie.  Enniscrone's website is @ google search, (too long to print here).  Cheers!

Can you detail which are the new Donald Steel holes?  Which holes were the old Hackett 18?

;) Paul Turner:  First photo is of the opener,#1, former#16, and the remaining are, I think, all new ones.  The new holes are,(as viewed on website diagram),#s 2,3,4,5,6,14,15,16,.  I anticipate my next visit!  Harnett's is the local pub choice.  I'll never forget playing here the first time in 96.  Previous day, a member at Lahinch told us: "storm force 7 tomorrow on
Sligo coast, ther'll be no golf there tomorrow".  We got there at 10:30 in the morning and were off at 11:30, under breezy, sunny skies,(an everchanging,tumbling, watercolored sky); the heavy winds did hit on the last three holes, and to end the story, I ran into the same Lahinch member who'd warned us, one year later, and thanked him for the warning!  I love, really love, this course, and the town.  Cheers Mate!

The new holes look teriffic and they will make Enniscrone a place not to miss when at the Northwest of Ireland.  I was there a year and a half ago and I found the first two holes and #15 I believe totally forgetable.  Which other holes were eliminated?

The pictures of the new holes look spectacular.  I was there in June of 1999 and they were beginning to route the new holes at that time.  I am glad that the new holes came out well, because I am not sure the old course was worth seeing.  The last ten or so holes were good, but it was painful to get to them.  The old #1 through about #7 were pretty dull and not too interesting.
