Why no mention of Indian Canyon in the Coeur d'Alene-Spokane-Pullman-Walla Walla itinerary?

I was thinking of this yesterday as I was the only one who said "Take the flight!" Play Indian Canyon on your way out of Spokane to the airport. Great course, I believe Kalen posted some pics on here of it a year or two ago.

I believe those would be my pics. I would also say play Indian Canyon instead of Palouse Ridge. My first thought for the route to Seattle was to play Indian Canyon, but I would recommend (as I am sure Kalen would) Wine Valley over Indian Canyon.

Here's a way to drive - leave Coeur d'Alene early, play Indian Canyon.  Drive 3-1/2 hrs to Walla Walla, play Wine Valley twilight rate  :)   Fall into bed after tasting local wine.  Up early, drive to Tacoma, 5 hrs.   Play Chambers Bay in the afternoon.

Those photos of Chambers Bay are great, very enticing to see all those slopes to work the ground game shots.

So here's the thing.  I just played 36 holes at Indian Canyon over the weekend.  It is a good course, but I don't think it would make it any higher than #7 from my previous list.  I know many may disagree with me, but its over-treed, they don't keep the greens running at a proper speed, pace of play can be a bear, and the bunkering is an after-thought it many cases.  It is a roller coaster ride though with tons of fairway undulation.

And once again, I'm not trying to bring it down, its just that when compared to the other top notch courses in the area, it doesn't really stack up.

I'd add it to the list thusly:

1) WV
2) Gozzer Ranch
3) Black Rock
4) Idaho Club
5) Circling Raven
6) Palouse Ridge
7) Indian Canyon
8) The Resort

You're the one who preached great greens at Indian Canyon.

Too bad that Chambers Bay doesn't allow carts and a good population of golfers will never get to play it.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

The greens are indeed better at Indian Canyon, but greens aren't the only thing to a course.

And in recent years, the last two seasons specifically, they haven't been mowing them at quicker speeds so all the fun/crazy/wild putts are almost entirely gone now. Word on the street is, there were too many old coots who complained because they were 3 putting half the greens during the round.

Overall though, if I had to 10 rounds to play, it would be 6 at Palouse, 4 at IC...hence the higher rating for Palouse.

The difference being that you would be riding at Palouse and walking at IC?
Me, I'll never go back to Palouse again.

And If I lived in Portland I wouldn't travel to Spokane either if I was just seeking out those two courses.  ;)

Well, I regularly go through Spokane to visit family in Mont. and ND. However, the time I played those two was when I went to Wine Valley and won the GRUDGE Match against you. ;)

John Harbottle tweaking of White Horse:

http://golfcoursearchitecture.net/Article/Harbottle-remodel-for-White-Horse/2445/Default.aspx

Has anyone been over to see it? I remarked earlier in the thread the course was tough, not very forgiving. I'd love to hear if anyone has any updates...thanks...
