Okay guys...here is a new thread where we can talk specifically about a Summer outing to both Sleepy Hollow and Manakiki.  The courses are about 40 minutes from each other, but as others have said...it may be difficult to do both in the same day due to pace of play issues, but we can sure give it a try in the famous GolfClubAtlas style!

The last Spring GREEN aerifications at both courses are in mid-May (9th at Sleepy Hollow and 16th at Manakiki). Rates are around $33-35 to walk on weekends and both courses are an easy walk.

Let's hear from the group to see what we can put together!  CHRIS STURGES...I will probably take you up on your offer to help put this thing together, thanks for the assist!

** THE OUTING IS SET! SATURDAY, JUNE 4TH **

Here are some additional details:

--> I reserved 4 tee times back-to-back on both courses

--> Tee times will be from 7:00-7:30am on Manakiki to get us started

--> Tee times will be from 1:30-2:00pm on Sleepy Hollow to close out the day

--> I would like to invite the participants back to my house after the rounds for a casual cookout on the back deck
(I live about 30 minutes from the course in Strongsville)

--> That will leave time on Sunday for those anxious to play elsewhere in the Cleveland area

--> If you need hotel recommendations (or maybe we should get a block of rooms?), please let me know and I can help coordinate that as well

Evan-Thanks for taking the initiative. Of course, there are conflicts for me with some of the dates. The May 21-22 dates are up against the Midwest Mashie at Lawsonia so you may want to reconsider that weekend. The best dates for me are June 4-5 and July 16-17. Thanks again.

All this talk about golf, does anyone want to play this Sunday?  The new weather forcast is looking better, but after five years in Oregon I am not afraid to play in the rain.

I did not realize that May 21-22 was the dates of the Midwest Mashie, so that may end up getting thrown out.  So far (for me), the two June dates also look best.  Let's see what other feedback we get from the group before we starting honing in on it.

Hi Evan.

Thanks for setting up.

Both dates in June work for me.

Thanks for setting this up!

Like others have said, the May date is Midwest Mashie, so I'm out for that.

Checked on the other dates, and those won't work for me. Hope you all have fun!

I might swing down from the Bee-Low for this action...my Cleveland courses are limited to the two at Quail Hollow and a photo driving tour of Fowler's Mill (not really Cleveland) and Little Mountain.

I likely won't be able to make both days, but could possibly do a Saturday in July.

Evan,

I would definitely be interested.  The best courses I have played this year are municipal courses, so I would love to see some of the good public golf in Cleveland.

Evan,

Sounds like a great combo! I certainly be interested and either June window seems ok at present.

Cheers,

Evan,

I would love to join you guys, BUT I have already played both of these courses. I think I might sneak into Cleveland area this summer and play the soon to close Fowler's Mill GC and Mill Creek North and South in Youngstown.

Manakiki is awesome as is Sleepy Hollow.

Best Played So Far This Season:
Crystal Downs CC (MI), The Bridge (NY), Canterbury GC (OH), Lakota Links (CO), Montauk Downs (NY), Sedge Valley (WI)

Based on what I've seen and heard so far...I'm inclined to say the weekend of June 4-5 looks best.  Reasons?  More people thought that weekend would work...and if for some reason things go "South" on us we could try again later on in June or July as a back-up.

So...let's call it June 4-5 and see who stays in / drops out.  I will update the 1st thread entry above with this decision.  Once we get a more firm count, I will call the two courses and see what they can do for us, from a group tee time perspective.  It may be that we have to split the rounds...meaning one round Saturday, one round Sunday in order to accommodate a large group such as this on a VERY public layout.  But I'll see what I can do.

I'm also thinking of some other group activity that weekend...more to follow on that front soon (just a hint, it would involve grilled meats and cold malted beverages in a homey environment)!   8)

It's always a bit tough for me, as I never know what rush t shirt orders may pop up (Lord knows we need the work), but those days look good to me, so count me in - for now.

If I can make it, I will bring goodies.

I would really like but I may have trouble making this one.
I really want to see Sleepy Hollow.

I currently have a club presentation on that Sunday (not firmed up yet).
I will also have been away from home 24 of the 48 days prior (including many week-ends away too).

Later works far better for me - my break in the schedule will come in the heart of the summer.

I think my family may have the final say.

Weirdly, the later dates in June work better for me, but keep me posted...we graduate on the 3rd, so the 4-5 is a bit challenging for me.
