Yeah, he had a bad moment. He also said Augusta plays the same distance today as it did in the 60's. I was kind of pissed though, I was dressed brighter than him.

His full swing goes to his hips. I don't know if he had a stroke or something but his right side is messed up, I shook his hand and it's messed up too.

Had I made that statement about any American town or city, let alone course, I dread to think of the reaction from the other Members and Reader of GCA.com.

So Sam, please be so kind to advise Mr Sanders that if I have the pleasure of meeting him at my home town he will be returning home via Medicare.

Complain about the golf, about the golf courses but touch on the town and I will happily give Mr Sanders an Old Tom club but it will wrapped around his head. No doubt the other male members of the family will be looking for some souvenirs in the shape of balls (not golf balls).

I will not go as far as to say that Mr Sanders is a POS as I do not know the guy, but one thing for certain he will not forget me if we meet.

My compliments to Mr Sanders and may I suggest that in future he keeps well away from St Andrews, if for no other reason than his continued good health.

From a Scotsman, albeit a none too happy Scotsman. >:(

PS Does your Mr Sanders have a similar feeling about Prestwick, if so, he should not step foot back in Scotland as he will then have no need for Medicare. :'(

Doug Sanders is entitled to his opinion, even if wrong.

I think some of his clothing during the 60s and 70s was hideous, although easier on the eye than his swing.

Doug Sanders also once said that he didn't like to play the same course twice in one day because during his 2nd 18 he would hit his drives into his divots from his morning round.

After that how could you take anything he says seriously.

Melvyn, I think he was talking about the Old Course, not the Auld Grey Toon.

Now that would be an encounter I'd pay to see ;D ;D ;D
I'd guess anyone with a 4 inch backswing could counter punch with the best of them.....

What's absolutely crazy about Sanders is that he was terrified of using white tees, but then he uses one on the last hole of the most important tournament of his life!  We all know how that ended up for him. 

Also, when I was in high school I played in his junior tournament down in Dallas.  We show up for the pre-tournament dinner waiting to hear Sanders speak to everyone and the guy never showed up.  Not that it really mattered to me, as I just wanted to see what he was wearing.  The tournament officials made up some lame excuse on why he never showed.
