Apparently Fairways and Greens thinks it is a picture of Ballyneal because a right-click on the pic shows the title as BALLYNEAL-14

Interesting David, since the DG article did have a Dick Durrance picture of the 14th at BN.

Picture by Colton seems to be the flag for the general area for 18 although it might have changed a bit from when Jim likely took this pik.  Flag in the background right is probably the green complex for #1.  Driving range in the middle of the picture moves, but not sure where. Left of the ridge would be the tee area for #2, shortish par 4 headed left (southeast?)  of course, subject to change.

No way it's 14 at Bally.   Looks like a large flat tee box in the foreground, something not found at Bally. If that's part of the fairway, you wouldn't find that either.

Not only is the overall look wrong for Ballyneal but the 14th at BN has one of the most distinctive green sites on the course and nothing at all like what is shown.

I've never been to Wine Valley. Who wants to guess what caused me to guess that?

One can only wonder? I can't read my wife's mind or my best friends mind, so help me out Adam.

Brad. For ages on this site there has been debate on whether you can tell anything about GCA from just a picture. Well, I took what little I know about WV and was able to guess. That little, is the unique bunker edges employed there. So, it was that tiny abrupt shelf in the foreground that clued me in. Plus, a little bit of the bacground. Those two tiny clues had me guess the Walla Walla course.

Adam:

Well done.  However, when I went back to look at the picture with your words in mind, the picture appears to be different now.

I had always been under the impression (based on previous journalistic quotes attributed to Rupert O'Neal) that the "2nd course" would be public, is that the case with the course Bruce is building?

Hope your recovery is A1!

Bart

Bart,
I do not believe it is going to be public.  Personally I do not believe that business model would work. They have to have members to make it work and I think public would probably not fit the business plan.  I do reserve the right to be wrong on this as I have not talked to management on this issue.

Nope, no public play is planned based on conversations I've had. I agree, as I don't think that model would work. Rather, I think it's a recognition that a course, which allows and is designed for carts, appeals to a wider demographic.  The effective time I can now enjoy Ballyneal ambience is extended by years, God willing. I can easily see walking the front nine of Bally, the using a cart for 18 on the new course.  It also takes pressure off allowing carts on Bally.  Even in my cart, I'm pretty sure I will remain in Colton's rearview mirror for years. :)
