So I guess there would not have been a third time to ask. This obviously had been discussed before by Master cake cutters. Not sure if I agree but it is an invitational. It would be nice to see him become number one with a huge following and next year decline the invitation unless it is clear that he will be allowed to wear it backwards.

I have no beef with Rickie Fowler, but if he turned down the Masters because he couldn't flip his cap around (the international symbol of the fool) then he is a fool.

Former catcher that I am, I've always like to wear my cap backwards.

I'm amazed that these pros and ams have their hats on at all. They are indoors...borrow a comb and look good for your interview. I enjoyed the Uihlein interview, but it was a bit odd to stare at the brim of his cap.

A colleague of mine here at 'Nova, also a member at Golf Club Atlas, brings along a catcher's mask to the first day of class each semester.  Any student wearing a baseball cap backwards is asked to wear the mask!

Rickie should remember that when you are playing in an AJGA event you can't wear your hat indoors. He's not that far removed from those days.

Rule #256 - Wearing your lid backwards is disrespectful and grounds for being booted from the tournament if thou is asked thrice.

Meanwhile, you can be an adulterer, cheater, philanderer, and hook up with porn stars and you're an "Augusta Legend".

Tiger Bernhardt and I were playing a four ball match vs John Strawn and Jay Biasi a few years ago at a famous seaside course in Pebble Beach. The wind was howling. At one point I looked over and both our opponents had their caps on backwards.

"Holy shit," I thought, "I hope Bob Huntley doesn't see this!"

Fowler is the Justin Bieber of professional golf.  Or the Natalie Gulbis of professional golf.  Scratch the last, Gulbis has won something.

Maybe it's the military in me, but I believe that in a place of hierarchy, you should make yourself scarce and keep your mouth shut unless you're in a position that allows you step out of line.  Sorry Ricky, but Augusta ain't the place to be a rebel.  They don't give a hoot about you.

I think you have that last part right.

I also think how they deal with their guests reflects more upon the club than it does upon a young man's taste in clothing. Personally, I'd consider the golfers to be guests of the club but perhaps they're viewed more as hired help.

I agree 100%--and I was never in the military.

Seems pretty simple.If you don't like the club's rules,don't go.

It's nothing to do with anyone seeing his face. It's a "thing", a look with a certain currency right now that he's going for. Tasteless in my opinion but he's not dressing for me. I think some of the white belt, white shoes thing that has been in and out of fashion for decades is far uglier than any backwards cap could be but I don't expect anyone else to suit my taste in clothing.

That's kind of my point. In the article, he is quoted as saying he turns his hat around so his fans can see his face. Yet he is not willing to take off his hat. Thus my point that he is not exactly James Dean. :)

..like the rule about removing your cap when you go indoors.  Or are all these blokes "OK" because its a tent and not a permenent structure?
