All,

There are two tee times at Metropolitan on Saturday April 16 at 8:30 and 8:40 AM.

UPDATED APRIL 12:

We have eight confirmed:

Myself
John Moore
David Tepper
Patrick Kiser
Alex S
Kyle Henderson
Brett Hochstein
Kevin Cahoon

This will be an informal GCA event, meaning no post-round speeches and a group photo is purely optional.  Also, no trophy at stake although maybe we can make it a Peninsula-East Bay showdown depending on who shows up.

So far I have six probables:

Myself
John Moore
David Tepper
Patrick Kiser
Alex Stavrides
Kyle Henderson

This will be an informal GCA event, meaning no post-round speeches and a group photo is purely optional.  Also, no trophy at stake although maybe we can make it a Peninsula-East Bay showdown depending on who shows up.

You didn't like the post-round speeches?

Bogey/Brushey and Zuckerman will be crushed!

Quite the contrary.  I'm just not sure we have anyone in this group who can deliver against their high standards.  Those were two tough acts to follow!

Pretty cool indeed, considering the speeches were extemporaneous and I had just invited them the afternoon before!

GCAers who show up on the first tee at Metropolitan in Melbourne will be sorely disapppointed.  Although Melbourne is a great place to have a few hours with nothing to do.

Come on board, there is no excuse for not getting at least two full groups.

If there is room for a Chicago GCAer, it would great to join the fun. I will be in the area for work, mostly, but my clubs will be with me.

Kevin, you're definitely in.  You have transportation to the course?

Bill,
While much closer to salt water and promoted as a links course, the California version of Metro plays much softer -- it is built on top of an old landfill dumped on top of an even older parkland course.

Both are in the flight paths of busy airports...

JL,
I'm in, barring unforseen circumstances.

I played metro a few years back.  Its dead flat but its got some interesting holes and angles out there.

The biggest question mark is how well the groundskeepers have picked up the goose terds.  In my experience, its 2nd only to Shoreline Links in Mountain View, for massive quantities of aforementioned droppings.

Put me down as a questionable.  I think I could make it but am not certain yet.  My Tigers are also in town to play the A's, so could be a great all around day in the East Bay.

Am new to this board and would love to meet you guys, but am teeing off about an hour before you in a mens club tournament at metro.  Might be a long day out there.  On the positive side--the course is playing as good as it gets.  The fairways and greens are hard as rocks and the ball is running like I've never seen it before.  Fast and Firm.  The second and seventeeth are a little beat up like always but otherwise the whole place is looking really good.  More links and less "links style." If you see Gary, the super, let him know how much you like the conditions.  He's usually riding around in a tractor with his border collie, Kendra, and is a really nice guy.  I don't think he ever goes home.  Let anyone you can know because management always wants to return it to a soft, lush, and green state.  A couple of us have been sending emails trying to enlighten them but the more people they hear it from the better.  And tell them to cut down the bush behind the sixth green.  That's my mission right now; fast and firm and no bush.  I'm left handed and about 6'5" so wave if you see me.  Have fun out there. Bill.

Bill, I am 6'6" and will be hitting duckhooks, so we might even meet in one of your fairways.

#6 needs more than a bush taken out.  The weakest hole on the course in my opinion...

You guys must be about first out, tee times don't start much before 7 yet.

OK, that makes it easy.

SOLD for eight spots on this Saturday morning.  Sounds like we are all confirmed.  We will remove the 8:50 time.

When you check in, tee times are under John Moore's name.

Last update...with only two groups I'm not planning to try to make pairings or anything.  We should be able to sort it out tomorrow.  Looking forward to it!

Again, tee times are under John Moore's name.
